    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="largest">C</hi><hi rend="large">harles</hi> the second by the Grace of God of England, <lb xml:id="l1"/>Scotland, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &amp;c. <lb xml:id="l2"/><hi rend="large">To all</hi> to whome these presents shall come greeting, <lb xml:id="l3"/><hi rend="large">Wee</hi> haveing had long experience of the great skill and <lb xml:id="l4"/>knowledge of <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers, Ioseph Roettiers and Phillip <lb xml:id="l5"/>Roettiers Bretheren in the art of graveing and cutting in <lb xml:id="l6"/>stone as also in divers other arts, and for that they have <lb xml:id="l7"/>att our instance and desire quitted their native Countryes <lb xml:id="l8"/>and are willing to settle themselves in this our Kingdom <lb xml:id="l9"/>and to emply their whole tyme in the said Arts for <lb xml:id="l10"/>our Service, <hi rend="large">Know</hi> yee therefore that Wee of our <lb xml:id="l11"/>especiall grace certaine knowledge and meere <choice><abbr>m<hi rend="overline">oco</hi>n</abbr><expan>motion</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l12"/><hi rend="large">Have</hi> given and granted And by these presents for us <lb xml:id="l13"/>our Heirs and Successors <hi rend="large">Doe</hi>constitute ordayne, <lb xml:id="l14"/>appoint and grant, that the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers, Ioseph <lb xml:id="l15"/>Roettiers and Phillip Roettiers and the Survivors and <lb xml:id="l16"/>Survivor of them dureing their naturall lives and the <lb xml:id="l17"/>life of the longer liver of them shall have full power <lb xml:id="l18"/>and authority <del type="over">for</del><add place="over" indicator="no">by</add> him or themselves or his or their <lb xml:id="l19"/>workemen to make frame and engrave the designes <lb xml:id="l20"/>and effigies of our Image in such sizes and formes as <lb xml:id="l21"/>are to serve in all sorts of Coynes, gold or silver <lb xml:id="l22"/>together with all meddalls of all sorts and mettalls <lb xml:id="l23"/>representing both our owne and our <add place="supralinear interlinear" indicator="yes">dear Consorts efigies as also all other coyned peeces of the nature aforesaid <lb xml:id="l24"/>that may convey to prosperity any marke or character of</add> prosperous <lb xml:id="l25"/>or mostly successes Accidents or great actions and <lb xml:id="l26"/>to the intent the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers Ioseph Roettiers <lb xml:id="l27"/>and Phillip Roettiers may ahve and enjoy such <lb xml:id="l28"/>benefitt or profitt as shall or may arise come or <lb xml:id="l29"/>accrew by the use fo the said Meddalls, Our will and <lb xml:id="l30"/>pleasure is, And Wee doe by these presents for us our <lb xml:id="l31"/>Heirs and Successors streightly charg prohibit and <lb xml:id="l32"/>co<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice>and all and singular person and persons whatsoev<supplied reason="copy">er</supplied>

Soever they or any <lb xml:id="l33"/>of them be or shall be that none of them other then <lb xml:id="l34"/>the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers, Ioseph Roettiers and Phillip <lb xml:id="l35"/>Roettiers without our speciall and expresse <lb xml:id="l36"/>commandment, attempt presume or goe about to <lb xml:id="l37"/>make frame or engrave or to counterfeit imitate <lb xml:id="l38"/>cast melt sell or sett to sayle any of the said meddalls <lb xml:id="l39"/>whatsoever which by the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers, Ioseph <lb xml:id="l40"/>Roettiers <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">and Phillip Roettiers</add> or any of them have been heretofore or <lb xml:id="l41"/>shal be hereafter framed, made and perfected in any <lb xml:id="l42"/>sort upon such paines and penaltyes as by the Lawes and <lb xml:id="l43"/>statutes of this our realme or by our prerogative royall <lb xml:id="l44"/>can or may be inflicted upon the offenders, for their <lb xml:id="l45"/>contempt and breach of our royall commandment <lb xml:id="l46"/>in that behalf; And Wee doe by these presents give and <lb xml:id="l47"/>grant unto <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers, Ioseph Roettiers and <lb xml:id="l48"/>Phillip Roettiers and the survivors and survivor of <lb xml:id="l49"/>them full power licence priviledge and authority to <lb xml:id="l50"/>have in his and their custody and the sole keeping of <lb xml:id="l51"/>such Engines, instruments and devices what<add place="inline" indicator="no">so</add>ever to be <lb xml:id="l52"/>used in the frameing of the said meddalls peeces and <lb xml:id="l53"/>Coynes, And know yee further that wee weighing the <lb xml:id="l54"/>service heretofore done and from henceforth to be <lb xml:id="l55"/>performed in the premisses, Wee doe by these presents <lb xml:id="l56"/>for us our heires and successors declare and grant that <lb xml:id="l57"/>the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers, Ioseph Roettiers, and Phillip <lb xml:id="l58"/>Roettiers shall have and receive at the receipt of the <lb xml:id="l59"/>Exchequer for the Exercise and Execution of the said <lb xml:id="l60"/>service and place of makeing of the first designes of <lb xml:id="l61"/>our Image belonging to our minte and meddalls of <lb xml:id="l62"/>all sorts <add place="inline" indicator="no">as</add> aforesaid the wages, fees or allowances <lb xml:id="l63"/>herein after men<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>oned; (that is to say) the yearely <lb xml:id="l64"/>su<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice>e of fouer hundred and fifty pounds of Lawfull

    money of England dureing their Ioynt naturall lives <lb xml:id="l65"/>and after the decease of any one of them the Two <lb xml:id="l66"/>survivors of them shall have and receive the yearely <lb xml:id="l67"/>su<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice>e of Three hundred and fifty pounds of like money <lb xml:id="l68"/>dureing their Ioynt naturall lives, and after the decease <lb xml:id="l69"/>of any two of them the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Ioseph and Phillip <lb xml:id="l70"/>then the survivor of them shall have and receive the <lb xml:id="l71"/>yearely su<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice>e of two hundred and fifty pounds of like <lb xml:id="l72"/>money dureing his life, the first payment of the said <lb xml:id="l73"/>fouer hundred and fifty pounds per annum to be <lb xml:id="l74"/>accompted and made payable from the feast of the <lb xml:id="l75"/>birth of our Lord Christ which was in the nineteenth <lb xml:id="l76"/>yeare of our Plague, and all other or subs<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>quent <lb xml:id="l77"/>payments of the said severall wages or fees to be <lb xml:id="l78"/>made at the feasts of the <choice><abbr>Anun<hi rend="overline">ciacon</hi></abbr><expan>Anunciation</expan></choice> of the blessed <lb xml:id="l79"/>Virgin Mary Saint <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn the Baptist Saint Michaell the <lb xml:id="l80"/>Archangell and the Birth of our Lord Christ by equall <lb xml:id="l81"/><choice><abbr>po<hi rend="overline">rcon</hi>s</abbr><expan>portions</expan></choice> at the receipt of the Exchequer of us our heirs, <lb xml:id="l82"/>and successors out of the Treasure of us our heirs and <lb xml:id="l83"/>successors from tyme to tyme there to be or remaine by <lb xml:id="l84"/>the hands of the Treasurer Commissioners of the Treasury <lb xml:id="l85"/>Chancellor undertreasurer and other Officers of the <lb xml:id="l86"/>said Exchequer and of the receipt thereof now and for the <lb xml:id="l87"/>tyme being And to that end Wee doe hereby for us our <lb xml:id="l88"/>Heirs and successors require and Command the <lb xml:id="l89"/>Treasurer Commissioners of the Treasury Chancellor, <lb xml:id="l90"/>undertreasurer and other officers and ministers of the <lb xml:id="l91"/>said Exchequer, and the receipt there for the tyme being; <lb xml:id="l92"/>That they and every of them respectively to whome it <lb xml:id="l93"/>doth or shall apperteyne doe not only from tyme to <lb xml:id="l94"/>tyme well and truly pay or cause to be payd unto the <lb xml:id="l95"/>said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Roettiers, Ioseph Roettiers and Phillip <lb xml:id="l96"/>Roettiers or their assignes the wages and fees aforesaid <lb xml:id="l97"/>out of the said Exchequer together with the arreares <lb xml:id="l98"/>thereof for the tyme past according to the purport <lb xml:id="l99"/>and intent of these presents, <del type="strikethrough">and</del> but doe also make
