    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">It has been usual for the Masters &amp; Workers of his <lb xml:id="l2"/><choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Mint to give 2000<hi rend="superscript">℔</hi> security to the King before <lb xml:id="l3"/>the sealing of the Indenture of the Mint and to <lb xml:id="l4"/>mention the same in the Indenture. Thus did <lb xml:id="l5"/><choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Rob<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> Harley in the second year of King <lb xml:id="l6"/>Charles the first, <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Ralph Freeman in the <lb xml:id="l7"/>twelft year of King Charles the second and <lb xml:id="l8"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Slingsby in the 22<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> year of the same King. <lb xml:id="l9"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Neale <del type="strikethrough">being <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">far</add> in debt <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">&amp;</unclear></del></del><add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">having spent a large estate and being far in debt</add> made his way into <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l10"/>place by granting half the profits thereof to other <lb xml:id="l11"/>Officers of the Mint &amp; giving 15000<hi rend="superscript">℔</hi> security to <lb xml:id="l12"/>the King and had time given him to find this <lb xml:id="l13"/>security after the sealing of his Indenture. But <lb xml:id="l14"/>his Melter M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Ambrose (through whose hands all <lb xml:id="l15"/>the coynage was to pass) gave but 2000<hi rend="superscript">℔</hi> security <lb xml:id="l16"/>to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Neale. The coynage being now much <lb xml:id="l17"/>less then in the time of any of the Masters &amp; <lb xml:id="l18"/>Workers above mentioned, if <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> please <lb xml:id="l19"/>to accept of the usual security of 2000<hi rend="superscript">℔</hi> I am <lb xml:id="l20"/>ready to give it that it may be entred in the <lb xml:id="l21"/>Indenture now to be sealed.
