    <p xml:id="par3"><hi rend="large">The Office</hi> of Gravers of the Mint being constituted <lb xml:id="l3"/>by a Warrant under the broad seal dated April 7<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. in <lb xml:id="l4"/>the fourth year of her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Reign, whereby for the advantage <lb xml:id="l5"/>&amp; safety of the Mint with respect to the Coin, <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Croker, Gent. <lb xml:id="l6"/>is appointed head Graver with a salary of 200<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> <choice><abbr>an<hi rend="overline">n</hi>.</abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice>, &amp; <lb xml:id="l7"/>Samuel Bull &amp; Gabriel le Clerk Gent. were made assistants <lb xml:id="l8"/>to the <choice><sic>cheif</sic><corr>chief</corr></choice> Graver, each with a salary of 80<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice>, &amp; <lb xml:id="l9"/>upon the voidance of either of the said assistant's places <lb xml:id="l10"/>the same was to be filled up with such Probationer or <lb xml:id="l11"/>Apprentice as should be presented to her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">tie</hi>:</abbr><expan>Majestie</expan></choice> by the <lb xml:id="l12"/>Warden, Master &amp; Worker &amp; Comptroller of the Mint, <lb xml:id="l13"/>by Warrant under the Signe manual: We humbly <lb xml:id="l14"/>represent to <choice><abbr>Yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi>.</abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> that the place of the said Gabriel <lb xml:id="l15"/>le Clerk became void about two Years &amp; an half ago, &amp; <lb xml:id="l16"/>thereupon one Francis Beresford hath been learning <lb xml:id="l17"/>about two Years under the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Croker to designe in <lb xml:id="l18"/>order to learne the art of Graveing &amp; is approved by the <lb xml:id="l19"/>said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Croker as well qualified in point of Genius &amp; <lb xml:id="l20"/>industry to make a good workman: For which end we <lb xml:id="l21"/>humbly pray <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi>.</abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> that out of the said vacant 80<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. <lb xml:id="l22"/>per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n.</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> an Allowance may be settled upon the said <lb xml:id="l23"/>Francis Beresford for binding him an Apprentice to <lb xml:id="l24"/>the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Croker for six Years. And we humbly <lb xml:id="l25"/>propose an Allowance of 35<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice></p>
