                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">May it please <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="2"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">The Act of Coinage being near expiring We have thought <lb xml:id="l1"/>it our Duty humbly to lay before <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> the annexed Abstract <lb xml:id="l2"/>shewing what the Moneys leviable by that Act have amounted unto for <lb xml:id="l3"/>these five years past (exclusive of <choice><orig>L</orig><reg>£</reg></choice>1200 per annum paid to the <lb xml:id="l4"/>Mint in Scotland &amp; about <choice><orig>L</orig><reg>£</reg></choice>300 per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> paid for prosecuting <lb xml:id="l5"/><del type="over">c</del><add place="over" indicator="no">C</add>lippers &amp; <del type="over">c</del><add place="over" indicator="no">C</add>oyners) &amp; what the charges of Coining the Gold &amp; Silver <lb xml:id="l6"/>moneys within the said time come to exclusive of Salaries &amp; <lb xml:id="l7"/>Repairs of Houses Officers &amp; Buildings <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> amount yearly to about <lb xml:id="l8"/><choice><orig>L</orig><reg>£</reg></choice>3500.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">If the coinage of Gold continues to be so great as it has been <lb xml:id="l9"/>the two last years, the charge of the Mint will exceed the income <lb xml:id="l10"/>by about five or six thousands pounds yearly <del type="blockStrikethrough"><add place="inline" indicator="no">[</add>or above<add place="inline" indicator="no">]</add></del> This has <lb xml:id="l11"/>hitherto been supplied hitherto out of the stock <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> remained in the Mint <lb xml:id="l12"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> was ac<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">c</add>rued in time of war &amp; is now reduced under <choice><orig>L</orig><reg>£</reg></choice>1000 <lb xml:id="l13"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> will scarce suffice to carry on the Coinage above a month <lb xml:id="l14"/>longer.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">Wherefore We humbly propose to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan/></choice> <choice><orig>that<add place="inline" indicator="no">t</add>he</orig><reg>that the</reg></choice> House <lb xml:id="l15"/>of Commons may be moved that the Act of Coynage may be <lb xml:id="l16"/>renewed this session of <choice><abbr>Parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Parliament</expan></choice> with an augmentation of the <lb xml:id="l17"/>Duty from ten shillings per Tunn to fifteen shillings upon Wines &amp;c <lb xml:id="l18"/>&amp; from 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> to 30<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per Tunn upon Brandy with such restricti<lb xml:id="l19"/>ons or applications of the money arising therefrom as the House <lb xml:id="l20"/>shall think fit when it shall appear that the Income shall <lb xml:id="l21"/>exceed the charge of the Mint.</p>
