    <p xml:id="par1">By the Act of XVIII Car. II. cap. 5, it is enacted that <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the Coynage  Duty shall be kept apart in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Exch<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Exchequer</expan></choice> &amp;</add> no moneys <lb xml:id="l1"/><add place="supralinear lineBeginning" indicator="yes">leviable  &amp;</add> payable by that Act <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">s</add>hall <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">b</add>e <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>pplied or converted to any <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">u</add>se  or uses whatso<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l2"/>ever, other then to the defraying the Coynage of  Gold &amp; Silver &amp; the <choice><abbr>encouragem<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>encouragement</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l3"/>of bringing in of Gold &amp; Silver  into the Mint or Mints <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">there</add> t<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add> be coyned into <lb xml:id="l4"/>the current coyns of this  kingdom; nor shall any of the said moneys be issued <lb xml:id="l5"/>out of  the Exchequer, but by Order or Warrant of the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Tr.</abbr><expan>Treasurer</expan></choice> &amp; Vnder <lb xml:id="l6"/>Treasurer or <choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of the Treasury for the time being to the Master &amp; <choice><abbr>W<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Worker</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l7"/>of the Mint for the time being &amp; mentioning that they are for the use &amp; <lb xml:id="l8"/>service  aforesaid, to be kept in his <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Office of Rece<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>pt in the said  Mint <lb xml:id="l9"/>&amp; issued out thence from time to time according to the  manner &amp; course of the <lb xml:id="l10"/>said Mint — for paying the fees &amp;  salaries of the Officers of the said Mint &amp; <lb xml:id="l11"/>towards <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the</add> providing  maintaining &amp; repairing of the Houses Offices &amp; Buildings &amp; <lb xml:id="l12"/>other  necessaries for assaying, melting down &amp; coynin<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">g</add> &amp; for &amp; towards  the <lb xml:id="l13"/>expence wast &amp; charge of assaying melting down &amp; coyn<del type="cancelled">ing</del>age  &amp; buying in <lb xml:id="l14"/>gold &amp; silver to co<del type="over">y</del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>n, &amp; not otherwise. And this Act  is not mentioned in <lb xml:id="l15"/>the <hi rend="large">late</hi> Act (<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">A</add>nno septimo <del type="cancelled">Regis</del> Georgij Regis,) for  raising a summ not exceeding <lb xml:id="l16"/>500000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> &amp;c</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par2">Quære. Whether is the Coynage Duty <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">or</add> any part thereof</add> to be taxed 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> in the pound in <lb xml:id="l17"/>the Exchequer by th<del type="over">is</del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add> last <del type="strikethrough">Act</del> mentioned new Act. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="3"/></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par3">And the Coy<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">n</add>age Duty is kept in the Exchequer till your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Order be <lb xml:id="l18"/>known <del type="strikethrough">about</del> to them about this matter<del type="over">.</del><add place="over" indicator="no">,</add> <del type="strikethrough">Wherefore</del> &amp; will be <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">soon</add> wanted in <del type="strikethrough">a little time</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">the Mint</add> <lb xml:id="l19"/>for <choice><sic>carring</sic><corr>carrying</corr></choice> on the coynage. Wherefore I most humbly pray your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Order <lb xml:id="l20"/>about <del type="strikethrough">this matter</del> it.</p>
