    <p xml:id="par3">When your Letter of the 4<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>, with my Lord High <lb xml:id="l1"/>Treasurers warrant, to the Lords Commissioners of the <lb xml:id="l2"/>Treasurie for payment of £892: 13: 4 Sterline to yourself  <lb xml:id="l3"/>Dr Gregorie and Mr Morgan came to this place, I hapned to be <lb xml:id="l4"/>in the countrie fourty miles from this, about pressing business. <lb xml:id="l5"/>Which I was verry much concerned at, But my friend att <lb xml:id="l6"/>Edinbrugh, haveing by the order I left him, made open the Letter, <lb xml:id="l7"/>went immediatly about the affair, and procured the Lords of <lb xml:id="l8"/>Treasury their precept upon Mr Daniel Stuart to your order for <lb xml:id="l9"/>£532: 13: 4 <choice><abbr>ster:</abbr><expan>sterline</expan></choice> being the money laid out by your self the copy <lb xml:id="l10"/>whereof is inclosed, ane other precept to Dr Gregory for £300: <lb xml:id="l11"/>and a third to Mr Morgan for £60. Mr Stuart himself being <lb xml:id="l12"/>adieing I mett this day with his freind Mr Broun about the <lb xml:id="l13"/>payment of the money, which on account of the uncertainty <lb xml:id="l14"/>of Mr Stuarts Life I pressed, by desiring abill upon Sir David  <lb xml:id="l15"/>Nairn payable to you the Doctor and Mr Morgan for your <lb xml:id="l16"/>severall summs upon dischargeing the precepts and your <lb xml:id="l17"/>giving up the workmens vouchers, and I hade accordingly <lb xml:id="l18"/>got it if Sir David Nairns freind hade been in town. <fw type="catch" place="bottomRight">But</fw><fw type="pag" place="bottomLeft" hand="#unknownCataloguer1">133</fw><pb xml:id="p133v" n="133v"/>But Mr Brown assoores me against nixt post I shall have <lb xml:id="l19"/>it, so I have keept the precepts till then when I hope to send <lb xml:id="l20"/>you the same with the bill upon Sir David, I gave the <lb xml:id="l21"/>Clerk of the Treasury for your precept a guinea and as <lb xml:id="l22"/>much for Mr Morgans being what is ordinary and to the <lb xml:id="l23"/>under Clerks 9<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>: 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>, I shall be verry mindefull of the matter <lb xml:id="l24"/>and you doe me a great deale of honour in giving me the <lb xml:id="l25"/>least opportunity of acknowledgeing my self to be,</p>
