<p>Suggests Stewart's post of bullion collector, 'being irregular', be suppressed, and the Edinburgh Mint's financial arrangements remodelled on London's. Stewart's executors should be ordered to hand back to the Mint a sum of between £2,500 and £5,000 owing to it. [The last paragraph (on recouping money from Stewart's executors) has been struck through.]</p>

<p xml:id="par3">We humbly beg leave to lay before your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> that <lb xml:id="l2"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Daniel Stuart the Collector of the Bullion for her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l3"/>Mint at Edinburgh is newly dead (as we hear by the last Post) <lb xml:id="l4"/>&amp; that in <choice><abbr>o<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>our</expan></choice> humble opinion the place of Collector of the <lb xml:id="l5"/>Bullion being <del type="strikethrough">neither necessary nor</del> irregular should cease &amp; the <lb xml:id="l6"/>said Bullion be henceforth paid by the Vnder Collectors into <lb xml:id="l7"/>the hands of the Cashkeeper of North Britain &amp; kept apart <lb xml:id="l8"/>in the Exchequer in a proper Chest under the key of the <lb xml:id="l9"/>said Cas<del type="over"><unclear reason="over" cert="medium">k</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">h</add>keeper &amp; also, if it be thought fit, under the key <lb xml:id="l10"/>of the General of her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> said Mint (as is directed by <lb xml:id="l11"/>the Scotch Act of Parliament whereby this Duty is granted <lb xml:id="l12"/>to the Mint,) &amp; that it be issued out thence from time to <lb xml:id="l13"/>time by Warrants to the General &amp; Master of the said <lb xml:id="l14"/>Mint &amp; kept apart in the Treasury of the said Mint under the <lb xml:id="l15"/>keys of the General the Master &amp; the Wardens for <lb xml:id="l16"/>defraying the charges of coynage &amp; repairs &amp; paying of <lb xml:id="l17"/>Salaries, &amp; be accounted for annually by the Master, so <lb xml:id="l18"/>that the two Mints <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">in respect of their cash</add> may be under the same Rules in <lb xml:id="l19"/>conformity to the Act of Vnion <add place="lineEnd" indicator="no">&amp; the Indenture of her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mints</add></p>
    
<p xml:id="par4"><del type="blockStrikethrough">And we are further humbly of opinion that the Execu<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l20"/>tor or Executors of the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Stuart be directed <lb xml:id="l21"/>forthwith to pay into the hands of the General &amp; Master <lb xml:id="l22"/>of the said Mint such a summ of money as your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l23"/>shall think fit, suppose the summ of 2500<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>, <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or 5000<hi rend="superscript">li</hi></add> to be kept <lb xml:id="l24"/>in the Treasury of that Mint under the keys of th<del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add> General <lb xml:id="l25"/>the Master &amp; Wardens, that the service of that Mint <lb xml:id="l26"/>receive no stop for want of moneys, there being as we <lb xml:id="l27"/>are very credibly informed, a far greater summ in the <lb xml:id="l28"/>hands of the Executor of the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Stuart.</del></p>
