    <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par2">The suplication of Robert Millar Clerk to her Majesties <lb xml:id="l2"/>Mint att Edinburgh.</p>
    
    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3"><hi rend="large">Humbly Sheweth</hi></p>
    
    <p rend="indent25" xml:id="par4">That the lords of her <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="overline">a<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> privie <lb xml:id="l3"/>Councell then of Scotland when setling the Necessary orders <lb xml:id="l4"/>and method of the Recoynage. After that they had given Commission <lb xml:id="l5"/>to m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Rutherfoord m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Bruce and m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Brown to be the <lb xml:id="l6"/>three Commissioners foor takeing in the money from the bank <lb xml:id="l7"/>by weight and Tale <choice><orig>overseing</orig><reg>overseeing</reg></choice> the same melted at the Mint <lb xml:id="l8"/>and cer<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ti</add>fieing the deficiency. They were pleased by a subsequent <lb xml:id="l9"/>act (upon particular application from the bank) to Adjoine me to <lb xml:id="l10"/>the said three Commissioners for <choice><orig>overseing</orig><reg>overseeing</reg></choice> the said tale and weight <lb xml:id="l11"/>and to sign with them the declarations to the bank of the <choice><sic>recept</sic><corr>receipt</corr></choice> <lb xml:id="l12"/>thereof into the Mint from time to time till the same should be melted <lb xml:id="l13"/><choice><orig>I</orig><reg>i</reg></choice>nto Ingotts and Assayed and the master of the mint his bonds should be <lb xml:id="l14"/>given for the value</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">The <choice><sic>saids</sic><corr>said</corr></choice> lords of privie Councell sensible of this great <lb xml:id="l15"/>trust and trouble put on me Extrinsick from what belongs to my <lb xml:id="l16"/>office as Clerk to the mint were then pleased for my <choice><sic>Encuragement</sic><corr>Encouragement</corr></choice> <lb xml:id="l17"/>to promise me a <choice><sic>sutable</sic><corr>suitable</corr></choice> Reward</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par6">In obedience to the said order of Councell and in answer <lb xml:id="l18"/>to the said trust I have given punctuall attendance &amp; assistance with <lb xml:id="l19"/>the said three <choice><abbr>C<hi rend="overline">omm<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>s</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> to the receiveing of the specie by weight <lb xml:id="l20"/>and tale from the bank and have signed the declarations of the <lb xml:id="l21"/>same which was no <choice><orig>smale</orig><reg>small</reg></choice> trouble to me &amp; pains besides the great <lb xml:id="l22"/>Charge I had of all under my Custodie till the Assay was past</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par7">And now that all is melted and that the three Commissioners <lb xml:id="l23"/>aforesaid have made application by themselves for a remuneration <lb xml:id="l24"/>to them <choice><orig>ther</orig><reg>their</reg></choice> Clerk and servants, without taking Notice of me <lb xml:id="l25"/>as being Named by subsequent act of Cowncill seperat <lb xml:id="l26"/>from <choice><sic>there</sic><corr>their</corr></choice> Commission</p>
    
    <p rend="indent20" xml:id="par8">I <choice><orig>H</orig><reg>h</reg></choice>umbly beg your lordship will be <lb xml:id="l27"/>pleased to take my pains and trouble also under <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> Consideration <lb xml:id="l28"/>and to direct such a gratification for me as your <choice><abbr>l<hi rend="underline">o</hi></abbr><expan>lordship</expan></choice> shall find <lb xml:id="l29"/>just my sallarie as Clerk to the mint being so small and <lb xml:id="l30"/>Inconsiderable that I am but narrowly subsisted by it. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
