    <p rend="indent5" xml:id="par2">The Supplication of Robert Millar Clerk to her majesties <lb xml:id="l2"/>Mint At Edinburgh</p>
    
    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3"><hi rend="large">Humbly sheweth</hi></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par4">That the Lords of her majesties <lb xml:id="l3"/>privie Council then of Scotland when setling the necessary <lb xml:id="l4"/>orders and method of the recoynage, After that they had given <lb xml:id="l5"/>commission to m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Rutherf<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>rd m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Br<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>ce and m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Bro<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>w</reg></choice>n <lb xml:id="l6"/>to be the three Commissioners for taking in the money from the <lb xml:id="l7"/>Bank by weight and tale, overseeing the same melted at the Mint <lb xml:id="l8"/>and certifeing the deficiency They were pleased by a s<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>bseq<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>ent <lb xml:id="l9"/>act (upon partic<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>lar application from the Bank) To adjoyn me to the <lb xml:id="l10"/>said three Commissioners for overseeing the said tale and weight And <lb xml:id="l11"/>to sign with them the declarations to the Bank of the recept thereof <lb xml:id="l12"/>into the Mint from time to time till the same should be melted <lb xml:id="l13"/>into Ingotts and assay'd and the Master of the Mint his bonds should <lb xml:id="l14"/>be given for the val<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>e</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">The said Lords of privie Council sensible of this great tr<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>st <lb xml:id="l15"/>and tro<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>ble p<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>t <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del> on me, extrinsick from that belongs to my <lb xml:id="l16"/>office as Clerk to the Mint were then pleased for my encouragement <lb xml:id="l17"/>to promise me a s<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>itable reward</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par6">In obedience to the said order of Council and in answer to <lb xml:id="l18"/>the said tr<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>st I have given p<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>nctual attendance and assistance <lb xml:id="l19"/>with the said three Commissioners to the receiving of the specie by weight <lb xml:id="l20"/>and tale from the bank and have signed the declarations of the same <lb xml:id="l21"/>which was no small tro<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>ble to me and pains besides the great charge <lb xml:id="l22"/>I had of all under my c<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>stody till the assay was past</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par7">And now that all is melted and that the three Commissioners <lb xml:id="l23"/>aforsaid have made application by themselvs for a ren<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>meration <lb xml:id="l24"/>to them their Clerk and Servants without taking notice of me as <lb xml:id="l25"/>being named by a subsequent act of Council separat from their <lb xml:id="l26"/>Commission</p>
    
    <p rend="indent20" xml:id="par8"><hi rend="large">I humbly beg</hi> your <choice><abbr>lop</abbr><expan>lordship</expan></choice> will <lb xml:id="l27"/>be pleased to take my pains and trouble also under <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> consideration <lb xml:id="l28"/>and to direct such a gratification for me as your <choice><abbr>lop</abbr><expan>lordship</expan></choice> shall find j<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">u</hi></orig><reg>u</reg></choice>st <lb xml:id="l29"/>My Sallery as Clerk to the Mint being so small and unconsiderable <lb xml:id="l30"/>that I am but narrowly subs<gap reason="hand" unit="chars" extent="3"/>ed by it</p>
