In obedience to your LordpsLordships Order of Reference of May 26th last, upon the Petition of Mr William Hamilton for being restored to his MatsMajesty's pPlace in his MatsMajesty's Mint at Edinburgh: I humbly represent that [I have formerly heard that from the Officers of that Mint that] he who was had been Clerk of the Bullion for the Mint in Scotland before the Vnion of the two kingdoms of& who by this Petition appeares to be the Petitioner] lost that pla was upon the ceasing of that place by the Vnion, at the intstance & in recompence for the loss thereof, was inserted made an Officer in the present Mint in Scotland with a Salary of 50li per anannum, that salary having beieng allowed him before as Clerk of the Bullion before the Vnion & I find him entred in the list of the Officers of that Mint with a salary at yethe end ofannexed to the last Indenture of that Mint made between her late MatyMajesty Queen Ann & IJohn Montgomery Es by title of Master & Worker of that Mint in these words: To the Clerk of the Bullion, as AssistentAssistant to the Weigher & Teller & Surveyor of the Meltings 50li fifty pounds per annannum But that Indenture becoming void by the death of her said MatyMajesty, & no Patent being granted bygrant of that place from his present MatyMajesty being entred in the books of the TrearyTreasury, & it not appearing that he was alive ornor what was his name: he was omitted in the Warrant lately directed to the General of that Mint for continuing the said Indenture in force. And now itBut since it now appears that he is alive, if in consideration of thise former services mentioned in his Petition his MatyMajesty shall think fit to continuerestore him to that place, it may be done by a Warrant under his MatsMajesty's signe Manual directed to the said General. All wchwhich &c. for supplying the defect ofomission in the defect of the late Warrant directed to him as above. All wchwhich &c
