Council Chamber in Dublin Castle 7th Iune 1712

My Lord

Her MatsMajestys Order in Council directing several forreign gold coynes to be made current in this Kingdome, having bin transmitted to us, We did in Order to put her MatsMajestys commands in execution consider the Proclamation issued Iune 1711 for making forreign coyne current in this Kingdome wchwhich directed allowances ot be made for any deficiency in any piece of gold or silver coyne then made current. But taking notice that in her MatsMajestys said Order there are not any directions for making for making making such allowances We would not take upon us to make any addition to the directions given by her MatyMajesty without the signification of her pleasure therein, and therefore We have thought fit to transmit to your Grace her MatsMajestys said Order as also the said late Proclamation that you may please to lay the same before her MatyMajesty for her further consideration.

We take this opportunity of acquainting your Grace that in the late fire wchwhich happened at the Council Chamber, the Original Proclamation wchwhich passed under the Great seal for making Forreign Coynes that passed in payment here current, was destroyed so that the Cleark of the Council cannot certify that the printed Proclamation agrees verbatim with the Original under the great seal as the late Act of Parliament wchwhich passed in 1709 requires for the conviction of persons who shall counterfeit the coyn made current by Proclamation. And therefore it being necessary to renew the said former Proclamation, We humbly pray your Grace to lay this whole matter before her MatyMajesty that We may have her MatiesMajesties Orders (if shall be so gratctiously pleased) to insert all in one new Proclamation wthwith directiosn to make the proper allowances for deficiency in wieght as in the said former Proclamation is mentioned, wchwhich We nevertheless most humbly submit to yoryour Graces consideration & remain

My Lord Treasurer having received from Mr Southwell the inclosed Representation from the Lords of the Privy Council in Ireland desiring some alteration to be made in a late Order of Council, & the Proclamation intended thereby relating to the currency of forreign coynes in that Kingdom I am commanded (in the absence of the secretaries) to transmit to you the said Representation with the said Order of Council & other papers wchwhich you are desired to peruse & Report to his LordpLordship assoon as conveniently you can what you think proper to be done wthwith respect to yethe alteration proposed by the Lords of the Council of Ireland.
