    <p xml:id="par3"><hi rend="large">In</hi> obedience to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Order signified to me by Mr Scrope 
        <lb xml:id="l2"/>in his Letter of 10 Apr. instant, concerning the trial of the Pix of copper 
        <lb xml:id="l3"/>moneys coyned by M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Wood at Bristoll, I humbly represent that the moneys 
        <lb xml:id="l4"/>there reserved for a trial are kept lock<choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted">ed</supplied></reg></choice> up in a box or Pix under the keys 
        <lb xml:id="l5"/>of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Wood &amp; the Comptroller of that coynage or of their Deputies. And 
        <lb xml:id="l6"/>that in my most humble opinion the trial thereof may be more <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>u<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l7"/>thentic &amp; satisfactory &amp; something cheaper if the Box before opening 
        <lb xml:id="l8"/>be brought up to London &amp; the moneys be tried <del type="strikethrough">before</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">in</add> his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">tie</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint 
        <lb xml:id="l9"/>in the Tower <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">by his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Assaymaster</add> before such person or persons as your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> or his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> 
        <lb xml:id="l10"/>in Council sha<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">ll</add> appoint to see the triall per<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">f</add>ormed &amp; report the event to 
        <lb xml:id="l11"/>your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice>, &amp; before the Officers of the said Mint, &amp; before the parties 
        <lb xml:id="l12"/>concerned <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></add> M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Wood &amp; the Comptroller of that coinage <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">who</add> are both in town 
        <lb xml:id="l13"/>&amp; th<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>ir Deputies &amp; one or two Gentlemen of Ireland whom your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> 
        <lb xml:id="l14"/>may think fit to give leave to be present if <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">De</add>sired. And at that same time 
        <lb xml:id="l15"/>any other parcel or parcels of copper moneys old or new may be tryed 
        <lb xml:id="l16"/>there before the persons <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">&amp;</add> the weight &amp; value ascertained &amp; 
        <lb xml:id="l17"/>compared with the value of copper moneys now coined at Bristol &amp; 
        <lb xml:id="l18"/>the trial reported to your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice>.</p>
        
        <p xml:id="par4">But if your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> had rather that the copper Pix be tried at 
            <lb xml:id="l19"/>Bristoll, I will look about for a man to do it, &amp; treat with him &amp; see 
            <lb xml:id="l20"/>him instructed &amp; furnished with necessaries with all convenient spee<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add>.</p>
