                    <p>Hopes to put an end to proposals for new copper coinage. The nation is sufficiently stocked with copper for two or three years yet and then 40 tons will be enough. Specifies the quality of copper to be used and the hammer test for verifying it. The Mint can undertake the coinage more cheaply than any private contractor.</p>

                    <p xml:id="par4">For putting a<add place="inline" indicator="no">n</add> <del type="strikethrough">stop</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">end</add> to proposals &amp; petitions about the coynage of Copper <lb xml:id="l18"/>half pence I humbly represent that about six hundred Tunns of such <lb xml:id="l19"/>money is sufficient to stock <del type="strikethrough"><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> nation</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">England</add> &amp; there being seven hundred Tunns <lb xml:id="l20"/>coyned by <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> last Patent, the nation is still sufficiently stockt <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> them <del type="cancelled">&amp; the</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">so that</add> <lb xml:id="l21"/><add place="lineBeginning" indicator="no">a new</add> coyn<del type="over">ed</del><add place="over" indicator="no">ag</add>e may be delayed two or three years longer <del type="strikethrough">at <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> l<gap reason="illgblDel" extent="1" unit="chars"/></del> or above &amp; when <lb xml:id="l22"/><del type="strikethrough"><del type="strikethrough">they b</del> they</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">such money</add> shall <del type="strikethrough">begin to</del> be wanted I am humbly of opinion that the coynage <lb xml:id="l23"/>of 40 Tunns once in 4 or 5 years will be sufficient to supply the uses <lb xml:id="l24"/>of the nation &amp; that <del type="strikethrough">they</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">it</add> should be coyned of such copper as will endure <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l25"/>hammer when heated to a dark red &amp; <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">(upon account or by a neare estimate)</add> of such a value as will pay all <lb xml:id="l26"/>charges <del type="strikethrough">upon account <del type="cancelled">&amp;</del> or by a near estimate</del> &amp; that it will be <del type="strikethrough">above two pence <lb xml:id="l27"/>in the pound weight cheaper to make the blanks by casting then by hammering</del> <lb xml:id="l28"/>cheapest <del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">to</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">&amp;</add> <del type="strikethrough">best</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><del type="strikethrough">safest</del> best</add> to have the whole coinage performed in the Mint the <lb xml:id="l29"/>blanks being made by casting, &amp; that the copper be bought <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" extent="1" unit="chars"/></del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">at</add> the Market price <lb xml:id="l30"/>to be allowed by <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> &amp; paid for by the Master &amp; Worker out of the <lb xml:id="l31"/>copper money. And that a pound weight be not made into more then 20<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> unless <lb xml:id="l32"/>the price of Copper rise considerably.</p>
