    <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par1"><hi rend="larger">Whereas</hi> his sacred Majesty above men<choice><orig>c</orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>ned hath by Warrant <lb xml:id="l1"/>under his Signe Manual dated the thirteenth day of this p<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><reg>re</reg></choice>sent September <lb xml:id="l2"/>commanded <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac Newton Knight Master and Worker of his <lb xml:id="l3"/>Mint in the Tower of London to coine halfpence and Farthings of <lb xml:id="l4"/>Fine Brittish Copper which when heated redd hott will spread thin <lb xml:id="l5"/>under the hammer So that Twenty and three pence may make a pound <lb xml:id="l6"/>Weight Averdupoiz as nearly as is practicable and to pay the Importer for <lb xml:id="l7"/>such Copper after such Rates are the Lords Co<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">m</hi></orig><reg>mm</reg></choice>issioners of his Majesties <lb xml:id="l8"/>Treasury now being or the Lord High Treasurer or Lords <choice><abbr>Co<hi rend="overline">m</hi>issioners</abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of <lb xml:id="l9"/>the Treasury for the time being shall allow <del type="strikethrough">not Exceeding Eighteen pence <lb xml:id="l10"/>by the pound Weight</del> the one half thereof in Money upon receiving the <lb xml:id="l11"/>said Copper and the other half in money and Copper together upon <lb xml:id="l12"/>returning back the Scissell, the said Scissel being reckoned at the same <lb xml:id="l13"/>price by the pound Weight with the Copper imported <hi rend="large">Now</hi> the Condi<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">con</hi></orig><reg>tion</reg></choice> <lb xml:id="l14"/>of the above Written obligation is such that if the above bound Henry <lb xml:id="l15"/>Hines and <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Appleby I<hi rend="overline">un<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</hi> their Heires Executors or Administrators <lb xml:id="l16"/>shall and will deliver at his <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint in the Tower of London unto the <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l17"/><choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac Newton <lb xml:id="l18"/>or unto the Master and Worker of his <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi>:</abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint in the <lb xml:id="l19"/>Tower of London for the time being Thirty Tunns of Fine Brittish Copper <lb xml:id="l20"/>in Barrs or Filletts of such Finess that when <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">heated</add> redd hot they will spread <lb xml:id="l21"/>thin under the hammer without cracking and of such a size that forty and <lb xml:id="l22"/>six half pence or ninety and two Farthings cut out of the same according to <lb xml:id="l23"/>the Dimen<choice><orig>ions</orig><reg>sions</reg></choice> of given Patterns shall make a pound weight Averdupoiz <lb xml:id="l24"/>as nearly as shall found practicable and <del type="strikethrough">without erring by design</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><del type="strikethrough">not <gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/> <unclear reason="del" cert="medium">erring</unclear> one half <unclear reason="del" cert="low">penny</unclear> of rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac Newton or the Master and Worker of the Mitn for the time <lb xml:id="l26"/>being paying to them the said Henry Hines and <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Appleby I<hi rend="overline">un<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</hi> their <lb xml:id="l27"/>Heires Executors <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or</add> <choice><abbr>Ad<hi rend="overline">mi</hi><hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</abbr><expan>Administrators</expan></choice> for the same after the rate of <choice><orig><del type="strikethrough">Eighteen pence</del></orig><reg><space dim="horizontal" unit="words" extent="2"/></reg></choice> <lb xml:id="l28"/>by pound weight Averdupoiz the one half in Money upon delivering the <lb xml:id="l29"/>Copper, and the other half in Money and Copper within Fourteen days after <lb xml:id="l30"/>such delivery of the scissell and Faulty Copper, <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> either doth not bear the <lb xml:id="l31"/>assay above men<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">con</hi></orig><reg>tion</reg></choice>ed or <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> doth Err from the Iust size above the Fortieth <lb xml:id="l32"/>part of its Weight and shall allow for the scissell and Faulty Copper received <lb xml:id="l33"/>Back after the aforesaid Rate of Eighteen pence by the pound weight averdupoiz <lb xml:id="l34"/>and shall deliver the <choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Thirty Tunns in such parcells and at such times as <lb xml:id="l35"/>he the said <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac Newton or the Master and Worker of his <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi>.</abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint <lb xml:id="l36"/>for the time being shall from time to time appoint and require so that the <lb xml:id="l37"/>quantity required shall not exceed four Tuns many one Month And that no

        other Copper be coined into Monies before the Coinage of the said Thirty <lb xml:id="l38"/>Tuns unless upon default of the delivery of such Copper as is required above <lb xml:id="l39"/>and in such Quantity Then the above written obligation to be void and <lb xml:id="l40"/>of none effect or else to stand remaine and be in full force and virtue.</p>
