All <lb xml:id="l11"/>these Assays being taken from west country Tin, where very little <lb xml:id="l12"/>grain Tin is produced, none of them proved to be grain Tin: but <lb xml:id="l13"/>the Patentees affirm that since they began to melt the several sorts <lb xml:id="l14"/>of Tin apart, that is, in the three last coynages not yet sent to <lb xml:id="l15"/>the Tower, a good quantity of their Tin breaks grain.</p>

<p xml:id="par4">Some <del type="strikethrough">Gentlemen</del> affirm that above one tenth part of all <lb xml:id="l16"/>the Tin in Cornwal used heretofor to prove grain Tin, &amp; think <lb xml:id="l17"/>that the Furnaces of the Patentees by keeping the Tin too long <lb xml:id="l18"/>in fusion evaporates the best parts of it &amp; spoiles the grain Tin<choice><sic>.</sic><corr type="delText"/></choice> <lb xml:id="l19"/><add place="lineBeginning supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp; damages the rest.</add> And if this proves true we are humbly of opinion that the Patent <lb xml:id="l20"/>is injurious to the Tin affair. But others represent that not above <lb xml:id="l21"/>one twentieth part of all the Tin in Cornwall used heretofore to <lb xml:id="l22"/>prove grain Tin, &amp; that the Tin is refined from the drossy parts <lb xml:id="l23"/>by being kept in fusion &amp; thereby becomes better then before. And <lb xml:id="l24"/>the Patentees tell us that their Agent in Cornwall hath by their <lb xml:id="l25"/>Order kept a parcel of Tin in fusion in the heat of their furnaces <lb xml:id="l26"/>some hours together &amp; found it finer &amp; better Tin after the <lb xml:id="l27"/>fusion then before; whereas in their usual way of melting <lb xml:id="l28"/>Tin out of the Oar, it continues in fusion but about a quarter <lb xml:id="l29"/>of an hour.</p>

<p xml:id="par5">We having no Tin Oar nor Blowing houses &amp; Melting houses <lb xml:id="l30"/>to decide this important Question, do therefore humbly propose <lb xml:id="l31"/>that <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> would please to give Order to the Agents in <lb xml:id="l32"/>Cornwal, that this matter be there examined by taking out of <lb xml:id="l33"/>the same heap of the black Oar of grain Tin, after it has <lb xml:id="l34"/>been washed in the usual manner &amp; made fit to be melted &amp; <lb xml:id="l35"/>is well mixed together, two equal parcels, &amp; causing the one to <lb xml:id="l36"/>be melted in a Blowing house, the other in a Furnace of the <lb xml:id="l37"/>Patentees, &amp; run into Blocks fit for coynage in the usual manner, <lb xml:id="l38"/>and that <add place="inline" indicator="no">t</add>he<del type="strikethrough">r <choice><abbr>Majties</abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice></del> Deputy Assaymaster &amp; such other suffici<lb xml:id="l39"/><fw type="pag" place="marginLeft" hand="#unknown">546</fw>ent Witnesses as the Agents in Cornwall shall think fit to <del type="strikethrough">appoin</del> <lb xml:id="l40"/>appoint do see that the whole proceeding in both the melting
