    <p xml:id="par2">The last Contract for Tin commencing Iune 1<hi rend="superscript">st</hi> <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">17</add>10, &amp; ending <lb xml:id="l2"/>with the Queens death Aug. 1<hi rend="superscript">st</hi> 1714 for 1800 Tunns <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> from <lb xml:id="l3"/>Cornwall in times peace besides about 40 Tuns from Devon. And the <lb xml:id="l4"/>consumption has carried off 1180 Tuns <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">which is less than the purchase by about 6<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">4</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">6</add>0 Tunns <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice><choice><sic>.</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice></add>. And at her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l5"/>death there remained in her hands unsold about 4800 Tuns <choice><abbr>stan.</abbr><expan>standard</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>weight</expan></choice>.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par3">If the contract be renewed &amp; assigned over to the King, the <lb xml:id="l6"/>Queens Tin will be at least four years in selling &amp; at the end of that <lb xml:id="l7"/>time the King will have <del type="strikethrough">received</del> 7360 Tuns <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough">remaining</del></add> in his hands unsold, &amp; <lb xml:id="l8"/>so be in <del type="cancelled">a</del> much worse circumstances as to these Contracts then the <lb xml:id="l9"/>Queen was at her death. This Tin will cost the King 51<del type="strikethrough">1520</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">0293</add><hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>, <lb xml:id="l10"/>besides freight 7360<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>, charges in Cornwall <del type="cancelled">at</del> <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">9</add>000 <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp; London about 9000</add>, &amp; interest of all <lb xml:id="l11"/>the money advanced at 5 <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> cent 5<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">39</unclear><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">2665</add><hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>; in all, 57<del type="strikethrough">56<unclear reason="del" cert="low">00</unclear></del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><unclear reason="hand" cert="medium">77<del type="over"><gap reason="del" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no"><unclear reason="over" cert="low">1</unclear></add>8</unclear></add><hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> before <lb xml:id="l12"/>this Tin begins to be sold.     <p xml:id="par4">Let us now suppose that at the end of that time the <lb xml:id="l14"/>contract ceases &amp; that the price of the Tin is lowered untill the <lb xml:id="l15"/>King shall sell as much Tin as shall be sold by the people of <lb xml:id="l16"/>Cornwall, suppose 600 Tuns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> (the whole sales amounting <lb xml:id="l17"/>to about 1180 Tuns<choice><orig><add place="inline" indicator="no">:</add></orig><reg/></choice>) <add place="inline" indicator="no">&amp;</add> for compassing this, the price must be so low <lb xml:id="l18"/>that it shall not be worth the whole for Cornwall to dig &amp; <lb xml:id="l19"/>work above 580 or 600 Tuns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice>. When the price has been <lb xml:id="l20"/>55 or 50<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per Tun, they have dug a much greater quantity, &amp; <lb xml:id="l21"/>therefore the price must be set lower, suppose at 45 or 40<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per <lb xml:id="l22"/>Tun.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">Now if the King should sell <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">60</add><add place="inline" indicator="no">0</add> Tuns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> after <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">the rate of</add> 45<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per <lb xml:id="l23"/>Tun <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><choice><abbr>stan</abbr><expan>standard</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>weight</expan></choice></add>, the sale would produce an Annuity of <del type="cancelled">600</del> 27000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l24"/>till all his Tin be sold, that is, for twelve years &amp; a quarter <lb xml:id="l25"/>&amp; this Annuity would not suffice to pay the interest of the <lb xml:id="l26"/>57<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/>29</del><add place="over" indicator="no">9<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">7</unclear>99</del><add place="over" indicator="no"><unclear reason="over" cert="medium">3</unclear>18</add></add><hi rend="superscript">li</hi> advanced, &amp; in the end of the time there would be <lb xml:id="l27"/>not left to satisfy the King for the principall &amp; for the <lb xml:id="l28"/>further charges of selling the Tin, &amp; therefore the King <del type="strikethrough">would</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">may</add> <lb xml:id="l29"/>lose above <del type="strikethrough">half a million of money</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">58000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi><choice><orig> </orig><reg/></choice><del type="strikethrough">&amp; it he cannot take up money at 5 <unclear reason="del" cert="low"><add place="infralinear" indicator="no"><del type="cancelled">5</del></add></unclear> per cent his loss will be <lb xml:id="l30"/>still greater</del></add>, by <del type="cancelled">the</del> <add place="inline" indicator="no">a</add> contract for <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">only</add> four <lb xml:id="l31"/>years. <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">And if he cannot take up money at 5 <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> cent

        his loss may be still greater.</add> And if <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">to lessen the loss</add> he would sell his Tin faster, he must sell it <lb xml:id="l32"/>for a price still lower &amp; thereby increase the dis<del type="over">t</del><add place="over" indicator="no">c</add>ontent of <lb xml:id="l33"/>Cornwall.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par6">Whence its easy to understand that if the <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">who</unclear></del> contract should <lb xml:id="l34"/>be renewed for three years only, the King might lose <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough">above</del></add> <del type="strikethrough">400000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi></del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><choice><sic>thre</sic><corr>three</corr></choice> or four <del type="strikethrough">or five</del> hundred thousand <choice><sic>pounds</sic><corr>pounds</corr></choice> <choice><sic>thereby</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice></add> <lb xml:id="l35"/>thereby <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or above</add>, &amp; if it should be renewed for above four years, the <lb xml:id="l36"/>loss &amp; dead stock of Tin would encrease perpetually, &amp; make it <lb xml:id="l37"/>every year more &amp; mo<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">r</add>e difficult to put an end to these <lb xml:id="l38"/>contracts without ruining <del type="strikethrough">Cornwall.</del> the owners of Tin-lands in <lb xml:id="l39"/>Cornwall.</p>
