The Humble Petition of <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Walker of <choice><abbr>Edin<hi rend="overline">b:</hi></abbr><expan>Edinburgh</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Merch<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Merchant</expan></choice>,</hi></p>

    <p rend="indent10" xml:id="par3"><hi rend="large">That</hi> the Late Iustus Brandshagen having while <lb xml:id="l2"/>he was at Edinburgh Employed in the service of the Governmnet (and then <lb xml:id="l3"/>in very great straits) borrowed the su<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice> of Ten Pounds ten shillings For <lb xml:id="l4"/>which he gave a note Vnder his hand payable upon demand. And upon <lb xml:id="l5"/>application to the Deceas'ds daughter for payment of the sate note, she <lb xml:id="l6"/>informer your Peticoñer that the Government was Indebted to the <lb xml:id="l7"/>deceased for that service in Scotland, the su<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice> of One hundred and thir<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l8"/>teen pounds Eight shillings. As appears by an Account written by the late <lb xml:id="l9"/>Iustus Brandshagen's own hand, a Coppy of which is hereunto a<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">nex</hi></orig><reg>nnex</reg></choice>ed. <lb xml:id="l10"/>Which <choice><abbr>Ac<hi rend="overline">co</hi><hi rend="superscript">t</hi>:</abbr><expan>Account</expan></choice> I was advised to lay before Sir Isaac Newton, who owned <lb xml:id="l11"/>to your Peti<choice><orig>c</orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>oner, that the two first articles amounting to one hunderd <lb xml:id="l12"/>and six pounds ten shillings, was not paid. And that if your <choice><abbr>Hon<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>,</abbr><expan>Honours</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l13"/>thought fit you might pay me my small su<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice> of Ten pounds ten <choice><abbr>shill<hi rend="superscript">s</hi></abbr><expan>shillings</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l14"/>out of the annex'd accompt. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
