                <p xml:id="par3">In obedience to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> Order of Reference of Iu<del type="over">l</del><add place="over" indicator="no">n</add>e 16<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> last 
                    <lb xml:id="l1"/>upon the Memorial of <del type="cancelled">the</del> the Warden of his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Mint  concerning 
                    <lb xml:id="l2"/>a Clerk to be allowed him for assisting him in the prosecution  of 
                    <lb xml:id="l3"/><del type="strikethrough">counter</del> <choice><sic>clipers</sic><corr>clippers</corr></choice> &amp; counterfeiters of the coyn, &amp; concerning moneyes to 
                    <lb xml:id="l4"/>bear the  charges of such prosecutions &amp; <del type="strikethrough">about</del> the method of accounting 
                    <lb xml:id="l5"/>for the same: We  humbly represent to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> that the late 
                    <lb xml:id="l6"/>Wardens have been allowed  such <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add> cl<del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>rk, &amp; have been supplied with 
                    <lb xml:id="l7"/>moneys partly by vertue of a Privy Seal  impowering them to seize 
                    <lb xml:id="l8"/>the forfeited estates of <del type="strikethrough">criminals</del> convicted criminals &amp;  partly out of 
                    <lb xml:id="l9"/>the civil List moneys, untill M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Peyton late Warden of the Mint <lb xml:id="l10"/>procued an Allowance not exceeding  400<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>  <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> out of the 
                    <lb xml:id="l11"/>coynage money by Act of Parliament  for carrying on this service</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">We are therefore humbly of opinion that the Warden of 
                    <lb xml:id="l12"/>the Mint  do find out a fit person to attend him as Clerk and Solli<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l13"/>cit<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">r</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>r to draw up  Informations &amp; Warrants &amp; enter them in books 
                    <lb xml:id="l14"/>&amp; attend Prosecutions  at the Old Bayly &amp; Assizes &amp; that this 
                    <lb xml:id="l15"/>Officer be allowed a salary of  60<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> as formerly. An<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add> 
                    <lb xml:id="l16"/>that upon being sent into the country to  apprehend &amp; prosecute <del type="strikethrough">coy<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l17"/>ners</del> criminals he be also allowed 15<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per day  travelling charges 
                    <lb xml:id="l18"/>for himself &amp; his horse<add place="inline" indicator="no">.</add><del type="strikethrough">, &amp; an Assista<del type="over">d</del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add> be allowed 10<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per day</del> 
                    <lb xml:id="l19"/>And such other persons as shall  be sent upon the like services 
                    <lb xml:id="l20"/><del type="strikethrough">be <unclear reason="del" cert="high">allowe</unclear> with him or his Assistant</del> be a<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">llo</add>wed such travelling char<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l21"/>ges as <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>he Warden shall approve of not exceeding 8<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per <lb xml:id="l22"/>day for a man &amp; horse <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp; 2<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per day more to the two principal of them<choice><sic>.</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice></add>. Add that in lieu of pocket expences 
                    <lb xml:id="l23"/>coach-hire, fees of C<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>urt, charges of witnesses &amp; such other 
                    <lb xml:id="l24"/>incident expences as cannot be ascertained by good vouchers 
                    <lb xml:id="l25"/>or would perplex the Accounts, there be allowed for every 
                    <lb xml:id="l26"/>house  searched in London the sum of 10<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> &amp; in the country 
                    <lb xml:id="l27"/>the summ of 25<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>, &amp;  for every person apprehended &amp; brought 
                    <lb xml:id="l28"/>before a Iustice of the Peace  <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">&amp;</add> committed to prison <del type="cancelled">the summ <lb xml:id="l29"/>of</del> in London 10<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> &amp; in the Country 25<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>, to be equally divided 
                    <lb xml:id="l30"/>between the persons who search or apprehend &amp; carry to 
                    <lb xml:id="l31"/>prison; &amp; for every person indicted &amp; tried in London the 
                    <lb xml:id="l32"/>summ of 50<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. &amp; in the Country the summ of 4<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> to him or 
                    <lb xml:id="l33"/>them who by  the Warden's Order shall sollicite &amp; ma<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l34"/>nage the prosecution, besides  Councellours fees.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">And we are also humbly of opinion that the Master &amp; Worker of the 
                    <lb xml:id="l35"/>Mint be impowered by a sign <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">m</add>anual to pay the Sallary of the said Clerk 
                    <lb xml:id="l36"/>or Solliciter quarterly as it shall become due, &amp; to advance to him such  
                    <lb xml:id="l37"/>summs of money from time to time as by allowance or order under the  
                    <lb xml:id="l38"/>Wardens hand he shall demand and for carrying on the Prosecutions not ex<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l39"/>ceeding 200<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice>, &amp; to pay <del type="strikethrough">to the said</del> what shall be further due to 
                    <lb xml:id="l40"/>the said Sollicitor upon his Acounts duely stated  &amp; allowed. And that the Auditors 
                    
                    <fw type="catch" place="bottomRight">of</fw><pb xml:id="p440v" n="440v"/>
                    
                    of the Mint be directed therein to allow in the Accounts of the Master <lb xml:id="l41"/>&amp; Worker all the said  payments not exceeding in the whole the summ 
                    <lb xml:id="l42"/>of 400<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> allowed by Act  of Parliament for this service.</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par6">We are also of opinion that the said Sollicitor do at the  end of 
                    <lb xml:id="l43"/>every half year lay before the Master &amp; Comptroller of the Mint,  an 
                    <lb xml:id="l44"/>Account of the services performed by Him &amp; his Assistants, upon <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice>  any 
                    <lb xml:id="l45"/>moneys may be due or have been paid to him or them with a certificate  
                    <lb xml:id="l46"/>from the Warden in writing that those services were done by his order. 
                    <lb xml:id="l47"/>And also a Bill or Bills of all the moneys due or paid to him or others <lb xml:id="l48"/>upon those servic<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>s according to the allowances above mentioned together <lb xml:id="l49"/>with the Receipts of moneys paid to others. And also a Bill <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or Bills</add> of moneys 
                    <lb xml:id="l50"/>paid for Councellours fees, extraordinary  Habeas corpuses Lord Chief Iustices 
                    <lb xml:id="l51"/>Warrants &amp;c. And that he insert  nothing into those Bills without Receipts 
                    <lb xml:id="l52"/>or other good Vouchers for the  same. And  that the Master &amp; Worker &amp; 
                    <lb xml:id="l53"/>the Comptroller examin &amp; signe those  Bills as Vouchers to the Annual 
                    <lb xml:id="l54"/>Account of the said Sollicitor. And that at  the End of every year the 
                    <lb xml:id="l55"/>said Sollicitor do lay his Account for that year, first  before the 
                    <lb xml:id="l56"/>Warden of the Mint to be examined &amp; signed, &amp; then before 
                    <lb xml:id="l57"/>the <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>H.</abbr><expan>High</expan></choice> Treasurer or <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">ds</hi></abbr><expan>Lords</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="overline">rs</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of the Treasury for their 
                    <lb xml:id="l58"/>direction how the same shall be <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">further</add> audited stated <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">allowed</add> &amp; discharged</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par7">And if the Accountant craves any <del type="strikethrough">encouragement</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">augmentation</add> of  allowances or
                    <lb xml:id="l59"/>and allowance for service<add place="inline" indicator="no">s</add> not within the Rules above-mentioned 
                    <lb xml:id="l60"/>the same <del type="strikethrough">may</del> be laid before  the <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>H.</abbr><expan>High</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>T<hi rend="overline">rearer</hi></abbr><expan>Treasurer</expan></choice> or</add> <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">ds</hi></abbr><expan>Lords</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Comm<hi rend="overline">rs</hi></abbr><expan>Commissioners</expan></choice> of the Treasury at 
                    <lb xml:id="l61"/>the end of his  Account.</p>
                
                <p rend="indent5" xml:id="par8">All <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is most humbly submitted to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> great</p>
