                <p rend="indent25" xml:id="par4">In obedience to <choice><abbr>Y<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">pps</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Lordshipps</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l1"/>Reference of the 17°<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">th</hi></hi>. Instant, Wee have considerd the <lb xml:id="l2"/>annexed Petition of daniel Crichlow Cittizen &amp; Button-<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l3"/>maker of London; And do find, that the Press of <lb xml:id="l4"/>Gerrard Bovey was not licensed by <choice><abbr>Y<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">pps</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Lordshipps</expan></choice> as <lb xml:id="l5"/>is alleged by Crichlow, but only permitted him by some <lb xml:id="l6"/>of the Officers of the <hi rend="bold">Mint</hi>, upon his giving security <lb xml:id="l7"/>that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Press should not be used any other ways, but in <lb xml:id="l8"/>making of buttons only; and to deliver it back into the <lb xml:id="l9"/><hi rend="bold">Mint</hi> upon demand.</p>
                
                <p rend="indent25" xml:id="par5"><hi rend="bold">That</hi> this was done before the <lb xml:id="l10"/>late Act of <choice><abbr>Parliam<hi rend="superscript">nt</hi>.</abbr><expan>Parliament</expan></choice> which makes it <hi rend="bold">Treason</hi> to <lb xml:id="l11"/>have a Press for Coining; and therefore <hi rend="bold">Wee have</hi> <lb xml:id="l12"/>called it in, conceiving that such a precedent may be <lb xml:id="l13"/>dangeous for increasing <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Number of such Presses, 'til <lb xml:id="l14"/>they become so common, as to be lyable to great <hi rend="bold">abuse</hi></p>
                
                <p rend="indent25" xml:id="par6"><hi rend="bold">That</hi> <choice><abbr>Y<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">pps</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Lordshipps</expan></choice> have authority <lb xml:id="l15"/>by the late Act of Parliament aforesaid to <hi rend="bold">Licence</hi> <lb xml:id="l16"/>such Presses: But in what cases such <hi rend="bold">Licence</hi> <lb xml:id="l17"/>may be granted, without danger of abuse; <hi rend="bold">Wee</hi> <lb xml:id="l18"/>humbly submitt to <choice><abbr>Y<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lo.<hi rend="superscript">p</hi><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Wisdom to determine</p>
