                <p xml:id="par2"><hi rend="large">May it please your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">p</hi></hi>.</abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice></hi> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="3"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3"><hi rend="larger">I</hi>n Obedience to your Lordships order of <lb xml:id="l1"/>Reference of the 15<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. of March last, upon the Memoriall of <lb xml:id="l2"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Will<hi rend="superscript">m</hi>. Shepard M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. N: Shepard, and M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Geo: Freeman, <lb xml:id="l3"/>wherein they desire to have a patent for coyning forty <lb xml:id="l4"/>or fifty Tunns <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> <choice><abbr>Ann</abbr><expan>Annum</expan></choice> of Copper halfpence or Farthings, <lb xml:id="l5"/>for the space of Eight or Ten years, of equall weight and <lb xml:id="l6"/>fineness with those now <choice><abbr>Curr<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Current</expan></choice> as also your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="underline">ps</hi>.</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> order <lb xml:id="l7"/>of Referrence of the 22<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. of March last upon the Peti<choice><orig>ī</orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on <lb xml:id="l8"/>of the Provost and Monyers of the Mint, wherein they pray <lb xml:id="l9"/>for a License to coyn thirty Tunns of Copper mony a year <lb xml:id="l10"/>of the same value, under the direction of Officers of the <lb xml:id="l11"/>Mint, and under such restrictions as your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">p</hi></hi>.</abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> shall <lb xml:id="l12"/>think fitt, to relieve them under the great Straits they are in <lb xml:id="l13"/>for want of employment in the Mint, they being allow'd no <lb xml:id="l14"/>salarys</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4"><hi rend="large">We humbly</hi> take leave to remind your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">p</hi></hi>.</abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l15"/>of a Report we made the 1<hi rend="superscript">st</hi> of Iuly last upon a Peti<choice><orig>ī</orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on of <lb xml:id="l16"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Abell Slaney to coin half pence and farthings, wherein <lb xml:id="l17"/>we Acquainted Your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="underline">p</hi>.</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice>, that the coinages of Copper <lb xml:id="l18"/>money in the Reign of King Charles the 2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. King <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ames <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi>.</abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l19"/>2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. and in the begining of the Reign of the late King &amp; Queen <lb xml:id="l20"/>had been carried on at the charge of the Crown, under the <lb xml:id="l21"/>care and direction of the Principall Officers of the Mint, <lb xml:id="l22"/>who kept due Entrys thereof in Books, and the whole <fw type="catch" place="inline">Profitt</fw>

                    Profitt and Advantage was Accounted upon Oath to the <lb xml:id="l23"/>Crown, which we then thought the best &amp; safest Method to be followed</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5"><hi rend="large">We</hi> have not heard any reasons since to Alter our <lb xml:id="l24"/>opinions, and therefore humbly propose to your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="underline">p</hi>.</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> that <lb xml:id="l25"/>whenever her Majesty shall think fitt to order Copper mony <lb xml:id="l26"/>to be coined, that it may be performed as near as may be <lb xml:id="l27"/>According to the Method of the Mint, <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">that either a <choice><abbr>Gen<hi rend="superscript">ll</hi>.</abbr><expan>Generall</expan></choice> Importer or</add> the Master worker <lb xml:id="l28"/>of the Mint may have money Imprest to him to buy copper <lb xml:id="l29"/>to be coined into halfpence and farthings<add place="inline" indicator="no">,</add> <del type="cancelled">of equal value <lb xml:id="l30"/>with those <unclear reason="del" cert="low">are</unclear> current</del><choice><sic>,</sic><corr type="delText">,</corr></choice> under the same cheques that are <lb xml:id="l31"/>Observed for the coinage of Gold and Silver, and to be coined <lb xml:id="l32"/>by small quantitys, sufficient only to answer the demands <lb xml:id="l33"/>of persons, without danger of complaints by overstocking <lb xml:id="l34"/>the Nation. out of the clear profitts whereof, her Majesty <lb xml:id="l35"/>may have it in her power either to relieve the wants of <lb xml:id="l36"/>the monyers of the Mint, many of whom we must inform <lb xml:id="l37"/>your Lordship are in a Starving condition, or to gratify <lb xml:id="l38"/>any other persons <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
