                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">May it please your Lordships <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="2"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4"><hi rend="large">In</hi> Obedience to your Lordship's Order of Reference of the 24<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. of <lb xml:id="l1"/>Iuly Last past upon the Bill hereunto annexed of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ames Gerard <lb xml:id="l2"/>chief Engraver of his Majesty's Seales, We humbly report to your <lb xml:id="l3"/>Lordships that we have considered and examined the same, and <lb xml:id="l4"/>do find by the perusall of the Warrants he has produced to us <lb xml:id="l5"/>that his Royall Highness the Prince of Wales when Guardian of <lb xml:id="l6"/>the Kingdom, had directed the making of the several seales in the <lb xml:id="l7"/>said <del type="over">b</del><add place="over" indicator="no">B</add>ill mentioned, and by the receipt of the Duke of Roxburghe <lb xml:id="l8"/>it appeares that they were delivered to his Grace for the use of <lb xml:id="l9"/>Scotland, and as they have been Weighed in the Mint that they <lb xml:id="l10"/>are of the Weight expressed in the said Bill.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5"><hi rend="large">We f</hi>arther humbly certifie your Lordships that we have <lb xml:id="l11"/>examined the Impressions of the said seales, and upon comparing them <lb xml:id="l12"/>with those of former seales remaining with us, made by his <lb xml:id="l13"/>predecessors, we find the work now performed by M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Gerard to be <lb xml:id="l14"/>good, and no way inferior to what has been done before, but as <lb xml:id="l15"/>he has over charged £10. –. in the privy seale mentioned in his <lb xml:id="l16"/>Bill to be made for North Britain, we are humbly of Opinion <lb xml:id="l17"/>that that sum ought to be deducted from his Bill, as likewise <lb xml:id="l18"/>the forty shillings he setts down for making draughts of several <lb xml:id="l19"/>seales, there being no precedent for such an allowance. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
