                <p xml:id="par2">May it please <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">In obedience to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Order signified to me by M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Sc<supplied reason="omitted" source="Newton Correspondence">r</supplied>ope <lb xml:id="l2"/>in his Letter of 10 Apr. instant, concerning the trial of the Pix of copper <lb xml:id="l3"/>moneys coyned by M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Wood at Bristoll, I humbly represent that the <lb xml:id="l4"/>moneys there reserved for a trial are kept lockt up in a box or Pix <lb xml:id="l5"/>under the keys of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Wood &amp; the Comptroller of that coynage, or of their <lb xml:id="l6"/>Deputies. And that in my most humble opinion the trial thereof may <lb xml:id="l7"/>be mo<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">st</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">re</add> authentick &amp; satisfactory &amp; something cheaper if the Box <lb xml:id="l8"/>before opening be brought up to London &amp; the moneys be tried in his <lb xml:id="l9"/><choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint in the Tower by his <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Assaymaster before such <lb xml:id="l10"/>person or persons as your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> or his <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> in Council shall appoint <lb xml:id="l11"/>to see the triall performed &amp; report the event to your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice>, &amp; before <lb xml:id="l12"/>the Officers of the said Mint, &amp; before the parties concerned, viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> <lb xml:id="l13"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Wood &amp; the Comptroller of that coynage who are both in town, &amp; their <lb xml:id="l14"/>Deputies, &amp; one or two Gentlemen of Ireland whom your Lor<del type="over">p</del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add>ships <lb xml:id="l15"/>may give leave to be present if desired. And at that same time any <lb xml:id="l16"/>other parcel or parcels of copper moneys old or new may be tried <lb xml:id="l17"/>there before the persons above mentioned &amp; the weight &amp; value <lb xml:id="l18"/>ascertained &amp; compared with the value of copper moneys now <lb xml:id="l19"/>coyned at Bristoll &amp; the trial reported to your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice>.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">But if your <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> had rather that the copper Pix be tried at <lb xml:id="l20"/>Bristoll, I will look out for a man to do it &amp; treat with him &amp; see him <lb xml:id="l21"/>instructed &amp; furnished with necessaries with all convenient speed.</p>
