                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">He saith <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>7</abbr><expan>Septem</expan></choice>ber or October was a 12 month Michael <lb xml:id="l3"/>Gillingham who keeps an alehouse near Charing Cross + Thomas <lb xml:id="l4"/>Holloway came to the <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi>.</abbr><expan>Deponents</expan></choice> house and hired a room for 3<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <lb xml:id="l5"/><choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> week for Tho<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. Holloway and his wife + 5 children and a  <lb xml:id="l6"/>Maid <choice><abbr>Serv<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Servant</expan></choice> to lodge in till the Mary of Leith a ship of <lb xml:id="l7"/>which <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ames Law was master could be ready to carry <choice><abbr>ym</abbr><expan>them</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l8"/>into Scotland and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said Gillingham undertook to <lb xml:id="l9"/>pay the said Rent of 3<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> week + all other charges <lb xml:id="l10"/>of the <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">sd</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Holloway and his said Family in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Lodging <lb xml:id="l11"/>and accordingly paid the same from time to time <lb xml:id="l12"/>twice every week and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> after 3 or 4 days  <lb xml:id="l13"/>Tho: Holloway and his wife went to

                    Scotland by Land on horses hyred by the said Thomas <lb xml:id="l14"/>Holloway but the Children staid <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 5 or 6 weeks <lb xml:id="l15"/>in the <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Deponents</expan></choice> house till the said Ship was <lb xml:id="l16"/>ready and that the said Gillingham did hasten <lb xml:id="l17"/>away the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Tho: Holloway and his wife and he <lb xml:id="l18"/>and Holloway did agree with the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Laws to give him 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> 10<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> to carry the Children into Scotland of <lb xml:id="l19"/>which money <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Holloway paid 10<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> in earnest <lb xml:id="l20"/>and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Gillingham paid the remaining 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l21"/>a fortnight after the <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> sayth also that <lb xml:id="l22"/>the said Gillingham upon paying the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> to the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l23"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Law took a Note of the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Law that the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l24"/>Law should demand the said 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> of the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Holloway <lb xml:id="l25"/>in Scotland and repay it in England or Scotland <lb xml:id="l26"/>to the said Gillinhgham and the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Law <lb xml:id="l27"/>should not deliver a Trunck and two bundles <lb xml:id="l28"/>of Cloths to the said Holloway untill the said <lb xml:id="l29"/>Holloway paid the said 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> and that the <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l30"/>hath heard the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Law complain that <lb xml:id="l31"/>upon refusin to deliver the Clothes untill he <lb xml:id="l32"/><choice><abbr>reced</abbr><expan>received</expan></choice> the 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">l</hi></hi> he was said by the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Holloway <lb xml:id="l33"/>for the said Cloths in <unclear reason="hand">Dean Gelt</unclear><gap reason="blotDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/> Court in <lb xml:id="l34"/>Edinborough and lately upon receiving back the <lb xml:id="l35"/>said Note by Tho<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. Holloway <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">in Scotland</add> (or another Note <lb xml:id="l36"/>like it) did deliver to him <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Cloths and that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l37"/><choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">sd</hi></abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Law being since saved by the said Gillingham <lb xml:id="l38"/>for the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">ll</hi></hi>, the said Gillingham produced another <lb xml:id="l39"/>Note and shewed it mr Law and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> together <lb xml:id="l40"/>which Note the said Law acknowledged to be very like <lb xml:id="l41"/>his hand but <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> suspected it to be only a <lb xml:id="l42"/>Coppy of the first Note</p>
