                <p rend="center" xml:id="par1">The Deposi<choice><orig>c</orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on of Martha Atkinson Widdow 26 oct: 1697</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">She saith <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> on saturday <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 5 or 6 weeks ago mr. <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons in <lb xml:id="l1"/>whose house she then lodged came up two pair of stairs towards the <lb xml:id="l2"/>Deponent's Lodging and meeting the Deponent almost at the topp <lb xml:id="l3"/>of the 2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> pair of stairs told her that the house was going to be <lb xml:id="l4"/>searcht and thereupon the <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> went with her younger <lb xml:id="l5"/>daughter Ioanna Atkinson to the door of a Room where the <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi>.</abbr><expan>Deponents</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l6"/>eldest Daughter Martha Hartwell and one M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Cook were togeather <lb xml:id="l7"/>and calling her said Elder daughter to the Door told her that the house <lb xml:id="l8"/>was going to be search<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add> and thereupon her said Elder daughter <lb xml:id="l9"/>went back into the Room to the <choice><sic>room to the</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice> said m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Cook and after <lb xml:id="l10"/>a while came out againe with a bundle of things in her Riding hood <lb xml:id="l11"/>and went towards the staires and was presently brought back <lb xml:id="l12"/>by People who came to search the Roomes</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">The <choice><abbr>Depon<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Deponent</expan></choice> saith also that the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Cook a few dayes <lb xml:id="l13"/>before he was taken up pulled out of his pocket certain pieces <lb xml:id="l14"/>of Gold which lookt like Forraingn Coyn and said
