                <p rend="center" xml:id="par2">Sunday afternoon</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3"><add place="marginLeft" indicator="no"><choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice></add> After M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Whitfield' was with you at the Dogg Chaloner was a  <lb xml:id="l1"/>litle suspi<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ci</reg></choice>ous of his fidelity to him then yesterday <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Iustice  <lb xml:id="l2"/>sending for both of us down in the Celler made him  <lb xml:id="l3"/>guilt of him but I hope I have got as good an <choice><abbr>Instrum<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Instrument</expan></choice>  <lb xml:id="l4"/>if you please to think will of it will get out of him all  <lb xml:id="l5"/>that he has done and all that he intends I sent last  <lb xml:id="l6"/>night <del type="strikethrough">a Copy</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">to</add> <del type="cancelled">of</del> Iustice Railton a Copy of a Note that  <lb xml:id="l7"/>Chaloner sent to me which M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Lawson has in his pocket  <lb xml:id="l8"/>under Chaloner's own hand which he is willing to deliver  <lb xml:id="l9"/>himself or sent it if you please to command M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Whitfield <lb xml:id="l10"/>has endeavoured all he can to get more out of him as farr  <lb xml:id="l11"/>as is <choice><abbr>conven<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>convenient</expan></choice> but all his discourse to him is that he hopes  <lb xml:id="l12"/>he is a man of honour and will not talk of any thing els to him  <lb xml:id="l13"/>his Misstress was with me last night and fell down on  <lb xml:id="l14"/>her knees to me and <choice><abbr>hang<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>hanged</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> me so that I <choice><sic>so that I</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice>  <lb xml:id="l15"/>had not hardly know what to do with her begging me  <lb xml:id="l16"/>that I would not be an evidence <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> Chaloner m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Whitfield  <lb xml:id="l17"/>told me you would call here before session this is all I know  <lb xml:id="l18"/>at present from</p>

<p xml:id="par8">Chaloner assisted Price with the water <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> he counterfeited the  <lb xml:id="l23"/>Exche<choice><orig></orig><reg>quer</reg></choice> bill with and often proposed to counterfeit Exche<choice><orig></orig><reg>quer</reg></choice>  <lb xml:id="l24"/>Tallys if I would get people to dispose of them he urged me  <lb xml:id="l25"/>mightily to get him a Blanck bill of a hundred pounds to  <lb xml:id="l26"/>make a Plate by but because he could not perswade me  <lb xml:id="l27"/>to that <del type="cancelled">I</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">he</add> mightily insisted upon me to get him a written Blanck  <lb xml:id="l28"/>bill telling me that that was not Felony

    then he was at me to joyn with him to robb a house <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> an  <lb xml:id="l29"/>acquaintance of his would set to him which had a great  <lb xml:id="l30"/>deal of money in it but I told him I would not have to do  <lb xml:id="l31"/>with any such thing but he often telling me that any way of  <lb xml:id="l32"/>getting of money contrary to Law was all togeather as bad as  <lb xml:id="l33"/>Robbery tho the Law was not so hard in some cases as others  <lb xml:id="l34"/>and that if I would not do it I might find out such as would  <lb xml:id="l35"/>if I would make it my buisines being I was so long in Newgate  <lb xml:id="l36"/>as I was he oftentimes melted down money and mixt it with <lb xml:id="l37"/>other Metalls and made it into money again there was a piece  <lb xml:id="l38"/>of steel <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> Chaloner had out of the Tower <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> I think was never  <lb xml:id="l39"/>yet understood who got it for him which I can g<del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>ve a very  <lb xml:id="l40"/>good <choice><abbr>acco<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>account</expan></choice> of who and how he had it it had the impression of  <lb xml:id="l41"/>a <choice><sic>Ginea</sic><corr>Guinea</corr></choice> but something <choice><abbr>broad<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>broader</expan></choice> and as thick as 4 <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi>.</abbr><expan>which</expan></choice>  <lb xml:id="l42"/>as he has often said before some People as I can produce  <lb xml:id="l43"/>that he can have one when he pleases These and many <lb xml:id="l44"/>such like practises of his I can make out by good Witnesses  <lb xml:id="l45"/>if I might be heard if it be <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> honour's pleasure to take  <lb xml:id="l46"/>any notice of <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>what</expan></choice> I say I shall for the future make it my <lb xml:id="l47"/>earnest <choice><abbr>endeav<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>endeavour</expan></choice> to detect all such vice as farr as in my  <lb xml:id="l48"/>power lyes</p>

                <p xml:id="par13">The insolent carriage of Chaloner's tongue not only to the  <lb xml:id="l49"/>reputa<choice><orig>ī</orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on of the Warden of the Mint the Recorder and even <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>your</expan></choice>  <lb xml:id="l50"/><choice><abbr>hono<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>honour</expan></choice> had been such and the intollerable disquiet which  <lb xml:id="l51"/>he begann to g<del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>ve me the very minute he came in here  <lb xml:id="l52"/>with<choice><abbr>o<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>out</expan></choice> the lest reguard to my sickness which he found me in  <lb xml:id="l53"/>has provoked M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. <unclear reason="hand" cert="medium">Tre</unclear>ll the Keeper of this place to forbid his  <lb xml:id="l54"/>access to me his first <choice><abbr>complem<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>complement</expan></choice> to me being in these words <lb xml:id="l55"/>viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. wee have played the fool one with another hitherto for  <lb xml:id="l56"/>want of an understanding betwixt us but now if you'l  <lb xml:id="l57"/>joyn with me nothing hurt us + <choice><sic>weel</sic><corr>we'll</corr></choice>
