                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par1">M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. <choice><orig>Cha:</orig><expan>Chaloner</expan></choice> said after that <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>oana and M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Hunt had been with him that he <lb xml:id="l1"/>would be sick at sessions if he saw reason or would be well if things went <lb xml:id="l2"/>well <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>oan lifted up her hand <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> him holding his shirt by the breast saying <lb xml:id="l3"/>she would murther him if he confessed any thing to the <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l4"/>he says there is no method of coyning so advantagious as his blancks cast <lb xml:id="l5"/>and after plated with thin silver the truth of the <choice><abbr>experim<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>experiment</expan></choice> was  <lb xml:id="l6"/>daily manifested by buttons of Tin played over with silver which are <lb xml:id="l7"/>frequently sold in shoe Lane this way he can make a 1000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">l</hi></hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> week <lb xml:id="l8"/>Hickes's <choice><sic>Guang</sic><corr>Gang</corr></choice> one or other of them come every day to see him this <lb xml:id="l9"/>morning Pearce the Bayliff at the Castle in the new Buildings was <lb xml:id="l10"/>this evening Scott Hickes mistris and <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>oanna and another woman <lb xml:id="l11"/>with Hunt the <choice><abbr>solicit<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>solicitor</expan></choice> who is <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> him every day m<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi> Scott is <lb xml:id="l12"/>the same woman that had Hickes's Edger in Keeping and lent it <lb xml:id="l13"/>to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Cragg twice<choice><orig>—</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> m<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Cha: sayes that Tom moor had that <lb xml:id="l14"/>edger of Hickes and how that one Pearce Clockmaker made it but <lb xml:id="l15"/>says that he had a better way that he edged Shillings with all</p>

Coffee sends him word how she was taken up <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> warden <lb xml:id="l16"/>was very <choice><abbr>urg<hi rend="superscript"><unclear reason="hand">t</unclear></hi></abbr><expan>urgent</expan></choice> to have her discover something of him and how <lb xml:id="l17"/>that she hath said nothing but how mr Cha: and her husband <lb xml:id="l18"/>made French pistolls but nothing of the <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> and says the <lb xml:id="l19"/>Warden was very angery that she would confess noe more of <lb xml:id="l20"/>him but she hath sent him word that she will get out of the way <lb xml:id="l21"/>at sessions M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Ch says she is a Bitch for he sent to her <lb xml:id="l22"/>when he came first into Newgate and that she sent him word <lb xml:id="l23"/>she wisht she might be damned if ever she men<choice><orig>ī</orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>oned him</p>
       
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">He says to me that he fears one Peck a Mathematician that <lb xml:id="l24"/>had <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> of him Holloway the Turner Thomas Holloways wife <lb xml:id="l25"/>and Taylor engraving <add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><choice><sic>Ginea</sic><corr>Guinea</corr></choice></add>stamps for him</p>
       
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par4">M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Hunt the <choice><abbr>sollicit<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>sollicitor</expan></choice> that was with the Warden yesterday goes <lb xml:id="l26"/>to day to the Recorder and the Master of the Bank concerning <lb xml:id="l27"/>his pardon<choice><orig>–</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> He says no way so propper as to sham himself <lb xml:id="l28"/>sick at the sessions and so to throw mini prayer thus farr <unclear reason="hand"><del type="over">i</del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add></unclear>s his <lb xml:id="l29"/>Resolu<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on<choice><orig>–</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> Hee was engaged with a Cap<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> when he came into <lb xml:id="l30"/>Newgate who with M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Abbot himself and some others were to <lb xml:id="l31"/>take 2 Tunn of Copper and 8 Gallons of aqua Fortis <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>.</abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> other <lb xml:id="l32"/>matters <choice><abbr>corrspond<hi rend="superscript">g</hi>.</abbr><expan>corresponding</expan></choice> with those afore<choice><abbr>s<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> all these was to goe on board <lb xml:id="l33"/>a shipp and the Cap<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. to find 4000<hi rend="superscript">l</hi> to carry on coyning</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">This day he sent Hunt the <choice><abbr>sollicit<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>sollicitor</expan></choice> to the Lord <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">Ch</hi></abbr><expan>Chief</expan></choice> <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ustice <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Recorder</p>
               
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par6">This day he sent to <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ustice Railton the Contents are as follow</p>
            
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par7">In obedience to your order I have writt though unable to hold my <lb xml:id="l34"/>pen I came by my pardon thus the Bank of England being <lb xml:id="l35"/>cheated of a great many thousand pounds they promised me if I

                    would discover the <choice><abbr>offend<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>offender</expan></choice> they would get my pardon <lb xml:id="l36"/>which I did and had the persons <choice><abbr>pillory<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>pilloryed</expan></choice> and <unclear reason="hand" cert="medium">fined</unclear> my Lord <choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>Chief</expan></choice> <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ustice <lb xml:id="l37"/>and the Recorder send to me telling me that I was <unclear reason="hand" cert="high">sencible</unclear> <lb xml:id="l38"/>I knew many ill practises <choice><abbr>carry<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>carryed</expan></choice> on <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">in</add> the Mint and till I had <lb xml:id="l39"/>discovered them they would distain my pardon so I proved in <lb xml:id="l40"/><choice><abbr>parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>parliament</expan></choice> of many parcells of False <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> that was stampt <lb xml:id="l41"/>in the Tower and severall Dyes <choice><abbr>convey<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>conveyed</expan></choice> away out of the Tower <lb xml:id="l42"/>for these and other services the <choice><abbr>parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>parliament</expan></choice> protected me <lb xml:id="l43"/>and the <choice><abbr>Instrum<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Instrument</expan></choice> the Lord Chief <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ustices had signed mee <lb xml:id="l44"/>which was a meritorious one I got out of the <choice><abbr>D</abbr><expan>Duke</expan></choice> of Shrewsbury <lb xml:id="l45"/>hand and it was pleaded At the <choice><abbr>Gen<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">ll</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Generall</expan></choice> Pleas for Newgate <lb xml:id="l46"/>Gillingham's Crew prop him up every day bidding him fear <lb xml:id="l47"/>nothing for no one can hurt a hair of his heard.</p>
            
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par8">Hunt goes this day to the master of the Bank</p>
         
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par9">He likewise says in his writing to <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ustice Railton that <lb xml:id="l48"/>no man in the world can ever say he saw him engrave so <lb xml:id="l49"/>much as one letter</p>
       
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par10">Lastly he tells me that he engraved this Mault Tickett <lb xml:id="l50"/>that M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Carter have him pistolls for doing it but how many <lb xml:id="l51"/>I know not and how that he hath hid it in a private place <lb xml:id="l52"/>moreover adds that his Confederates hath betrayed him in <lb xml:id="l53"/>this matter of the Mault Tickets as they did of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Bank <lb xml:id="l54"/>who after he had marbled and made as many Bank-<lb xml:id="l55"/>Bills <choice><sic>Bills</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice> that would che<choice><orig></orig><reg>que</reg></choice> as came to 300000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> + was <lb xml:id="l56"/>to be put off the Thursday after before which they <choice><abbr>discov<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>d</abbr><expan>discovered</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l57"/>it partly as they do now<choice><orig>—</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> <space unit="chars" extent="4"/>Moreover adds that <lb xml:id="l58"/>the Secretary told him if he did not <choice><abbr>deliv<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>deliver</expan></choice> up the plate <lb xml:id="l59"/>for the mault Tickets it should be worse for him + now <lb xml:id="l60"/>if he thought would do him any service he hath it <lb xml:id="l61"/>ready to produce</p>
