                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par1">The Informa<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">c</hi></orig><reg>ti</reg></choice>on of Mary Townsend of the <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>ish of S<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> Andrew<supplied reason="omitted">s</supplied> <lb xml:id="l1"/>Holborn in the County of <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="overline">iddx</hi></abbr><expan>Middlesex</expan></choice> widdow taken this 31 day of <lb xml:id="l2"/>Aug<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. 1698</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">Who saith that <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 5 or 6 yeares ago she was in company <lb xml:id="l3"/>with one M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons in Lickabone street in the said <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>par</reg></choice>ish of <lb xml:id="l4"/>S<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> Andrews and this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> did then and there see the said <lb xml:id="l5"/><choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons receive severall summes of counterfeit money of <lb xml:id="l6"/>one Edward Ivy who is now a Prisoner in Newgate and the <lb xml:id="l7"/>said Gibbons hath severall times owned that he put off &amp; <lb xml:id="l8"/>payed away the said counterfeit money as good and at the same <lb xml:id="l9"/>time and place the said Gibbons used to bring severall su<choice><orig>m̄</orig><reg>mm</reg></choice>s <lb xml:id="l10"/>of broad money and sold it after the rate of <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="high">2</unclear></del>3<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> or <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">2</unclear></del>3<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> in the  <lb xml:id="l11"/>pound proffitt for the same to one <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Hickes who is now Keeper <lb xml:id="l12"/>of the Gatehouse <choice><abbr>Westm<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Westminster</expan></choice> and the said Gibbons used frequently to <lb xml:id="l13"/>stand by the said Hickes while he clipped the said money <lb xml:id="l14"/>and then r<choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">eced</hi></abbr><expan>eceived</expan></choice> back the money after it was clipped and the said <lb xml:id="l15"/>Hickes used to give to one Thomas <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ones <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> week to  <lb xml:id="l16"/>assist him in clipping of broad money and one Mary Hewett <lb xml:id="l17"/>daughter in law of the said Hickes used likewise to assist her <lb xml:id="l18"/>father in clipping of broad money<choice><orig>—</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> And that <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 6 years <lb xml:id="l19"/>ago one Rob<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>. <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>acob who lives near Grayes Inn and is a  <lb xml:id="l20"/>Goldsmith used to clipp broad money for the said hickes  <lb xml:id="l21"/>and hickes used to give him 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> pound for clipping it <lb xml:id="l22"/>for him and Hickes used to weigh the money that <lb xml:id="l23"/>he let the said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>acobs have and <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">reced</hi></abbr><expan>received</expan></choice> it back

                    after it was clipped by weight and Iacob used to keep the Clippings <lb xml:id="l24"/>and gave Hickes after the rate of <unclear reason="hand" cert="low">5</unclear><hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> ounce for the same  <lb xml:id="l25"/>And that <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 6 yeares ago the said <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Gibbons used severall times <lb xml:id="l26"/>to give notice to the said Edward Ivy that his house would be <lb xml:id="l27"/>searcht upon the <choice><abbr>acco<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>account</expan></choice> of clipping and advised him to get his Tooles <lb xml:id="l28"/>out of the way and the said Edward Ivy used to give to the <choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> Gibbons <lb xml:id="l29"/>severall summs of money for giving him private notice as aforesaid <lb xml:id="l30"/>and the said Gibbons used to give Hickes notice that his house would <lb xml:id="l31"/>be searcht upon the <choice><abbr>acco<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>account</expan></choice> of clipping and Hickes frequently gave Gibbons  <lb xml:id="l32"/>money for so doing and this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> hath heard Gibbons declare that he <lb xml:id="l33"/>was going to send work to the said Hickes that he intended to search <lb xml:id="l34"/>his house with the assistance of a Co<choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">nble</hi></abbr><expan>nstable</expan></choice> and that if he found any <lb xml:id="l35"/>unlawfull thing in it he could not conceal it by the reason of the Co<choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">nble</hi></abbr><expan>nstable</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l36"/>being in company with him and that this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> being in  <lb xml:id="l37"/>company with the said Gibbons at his own house at Charing Cross <lb xml:id="l38"/>the said Gibbons said that her father Edward Ivy afo<choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">resd</hi></abbr><expan>resaid</expan></choice> had told <lb xml:id="l39"/>the Secretary of State that he had given to the said Gibbons  <lb xml:id="l40"/>the sum of fifty poundes to keep his councell and said God Damne <lb xml:id="l41"/>him if Ivy did not give him 50<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> he would hangue him or words <lb xml:id="l42"/>to that effect <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="7"/> And that <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 6 yeares ago she saw one Sam<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">ll</hi></hi>. <lb xml:id="l43"/>Price who keeps a Watchmakers shop in Spring Garden by <lb xml:id="l44"/>Whitehall file and diminish severall <choice><sic>Gineas</sic><corr>Guineas</corr></choice> at Lickabone street afore<choice><abbr>sd</abbr><expan>said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l45"/>and took off each <choice><sic>Ginea</sic><corr>Guinea</corr></choice> <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 1<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> and then new edged them againe <lb xml:id="l46"/>And that <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 3 years and 1 ago this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> saw one Thomas <lb xml:id="l47"/>Harefinch who lives near Criplegate and is a silver smith clipp <lb xml:id="l48"/><choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 18<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">ll</hi></hi> of the Current Coyn of this Realme at his Lodging in  <lb xml:id="l49"/>Aldermanbury London</p>
