                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2"><persName>Ann Alder</persName> Spinster <choice><abbr>Serv.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Servant</expan></choice> to <persName>Joseph Horton</persName> now of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Citty of <placeName>Chester</placeName> <lb xml:id="l5"/>and late of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Citty of <placeName>London</placeName> Goldsmith being <choice><abbr>Exaīed</abbr><expan>Examined</expan></choice> confesseth &amp; saith, <lb xml:id="l6"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> the said Master <persName>Joseph Horton</persName> came from his Country Seat att <lb xml:id="l7"/><placeName>Cotton Hook</placeName> near <placeName>Chester</placeName> on fryday last about 5. or 6. of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Clock in <lb xml:id="l8"/>the Evening to his house in Watergait Street in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Said Citty of <placeName>Chester</placeName> <lb xml:id="l9"/>and went to his bed there about 9. or 10. a Clock the Same night and <lb xml:id="l10"/>went out of Town (to <placeName>Cotton Hook</placeName> as he declared) <del type="strikethrough">to Cotton</del> on Satturday <lb xml:id="l11"/>last about 8 a clock at night, and returned again on foot as she beleives <lb xml:id="l12"/>Yesterday being the 16.<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> of this Instant October <choice><abbr>ab<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 8. or 9. of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Clock in the <lb xml:id="l13"/>morneing of the same day and She further Saith <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> our M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Roberts</persName> <lb xml:id="l14"/>who hath usually lived with the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> Master for 12. months last past <lb xml:id="l15"/>Lodged in the said Masters house on fryday Satturday &amp; Sunday Night <lb xml:id="l16"/>last past, and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> Master &amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Roberts</persName> Dined togeather of a Neck of <lb xml:id="l17"/>Pork <choice><abbr>ab.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 12. or 1. of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Clock yesterday and afterwards <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Roberts</persName> went <lb xml:id="l18"/>abroad some time in the afternoon but this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> doth not know <lb xml:id="l19"/>at what time <choice><abbr>ꝑticularly</abbr><expan>Particularly</expan></choice> he went out or whether he went And <lb xml:id="l20"/>this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> further saith between 8. or 9. of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Clock <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> last night <lb xml:id="l21"/>she first observed a furnace made and Sett up in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Sellar of the <lb xml:id="l22"/>said house where <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Said M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Horton</persName> was useing Some Melting potts <lb xml:id="l23"/>upon a fire but knows not what he was doing therewith nor did she <lb xml:id="l24"/>ever observe <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said Furnace there before that time thô she frequently <lb xml:id="l25"/>went into the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> Sellar to draw beer and on other occasions near the <lb xml:id="l26"/>place where <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Said Furnace was erected.
