                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2"><persName>John Fallows</persName> of <placeName>Preese</placeName> in the County of <placeName>Salop</placeName> <choice><abbr>Yeom̄</abbr><expan>Yeoman</expan></choice> aged 21. Years or thereab. <lb xml:id="l5"/>(son of <persName>George Fallows</persName> of <placeName>Preese</placeName> aforesaid Chair maker) <choice><abbr>Ex<hi rend="overline">aie</hi>d</abbr><expan>Examined</expan></choice> upon Oath <lb xml:id="l6"/>saith <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> he hath lived for about 5. Years as a Servant with <persName>John Morgan</persName> <lb xml:id="l7"/>of <placeName>Preese</placeName> aforesaid Inn holder at the Sign of the Red lyon there <lb xml:id="l8"/>till his said Master dyed <choice><abbr>ab.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 3. Weeks agoe, Since <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> time this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l9"/>hath lived with his <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> Father in <placeName>Preese</placeName> afore<choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> And was Sent by his <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l10"/>Father yesterday from <placeName>Preese</placeName> aforesaid <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> a Horse load of Chairs <lb xml:id="l11"/>to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>John Tudor</persName> Tinplate Worker in <placeName>Chester</placeName> and came to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> Citty about <lb xml:id="l12"/>5. a Clock yesterday in the afternoon haveing never been in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said Citty <lb xml:id="l13"/>before, And <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Tudor</persName> told this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> he might have time to See <lb xml:id="l14"/>the Town this Morning before he returned to <placeName>Preese</placeName>, Whereupon this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l15"/>went out this morning early down to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> bridge and thence to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Castle of <lb xml:id="l16"/><placeName>Chester</placeName>, and haveing looked about him there a little While he went from <lb xml:id="l17"/>thence upon the Citty Walls to a certain Tower (which he hath Since heard <fw type="catch" place="bottomRight">is call'd</fw> <pb xml:id="p001" n="1"/>is called the New Tower.) And Seeing a Ship in building upon <lb xml:id="l18"/>the Sands he went down to view it, haveing never Seen a Ship bef<supplied reason="damage" cert="high">ore</supplied> <lb xml:id="l19"/>and as he returned thence between 7. &amp; 8. a clock this p<hi rend="superscript">re</hi>sent Mornin<supplied reason="damage" cert="high">g</supplied> <lb xml:id="l20"/>he espyed a Bag lying upon the Sands about a Yard from <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said <lb xml:id="l21"/>River, and <choice><abbr>ab.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 20. Roods below <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> New Tower, and when he came to<lb xml:id="l22"/>it finding it was <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">not</add> Tyed att <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Top He first opened it <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> his Stick, and <lb xml:id="l23"/>afterwards put his hand into it, and found therein Some Tooles &amp; <lb xml:id="l24"/><choice><abbr>Instrum.<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Instruments</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> he thought were made for Coyning of Money, and <lb xml:id="l25"/>while he was considering what to doe therewith, three other persons <lb xml:id="l26"/>who were walking upon the Said Sands towards this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice>, and <lb xml:id="l27"/>being now p<hi rend="superscript">re</hi>sent call themselves <persName>John Yeoman</persName> <persName>Robt Buckley</persName> and <lb xml:id="l28"/><persName>Sam.<hi rend="superscript">ll</hi> Davies</persName> asked this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> what he had found there, who <lb xml:id="l29"/>made answer <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> he thought there were Something for Coyning of <lb xml:id="l30"/>Money, whereupon <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Yeoman</persName> M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Buckley</persName> &amp; M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <persName>Davies</persName>, and this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> Searched <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said Bag, and found therein the 5. Iron <choice><abbr>Instrum.<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Instruments</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l31"/>now produced. One of <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is a boc with 4. Screws in it togeather with <lb xml:id="l32"/>15. punches for letters now produced and One of the 3. dyes <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> are <lb xml:id="l33"/>now also produced and Impressed in Wax on <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Margent of this paper <lb xml:id="l34"/>but this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> knows not <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> dyes was found in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said Bag <lb xml:id="l35"/>the other 2. Dyes being also then found by the said Three Persons above <lb xml:id="l36"/>named Loose in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said River near <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> same place, And this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l37"/>and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said 3. other Persons looking <choice><abbr>ab.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> them them further in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Said River <lb xml:id="l38"/>Saw another lesser Bag in <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said River <choice><abbr>ab.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 3. Yards from <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Shoar <lb xml:id="l39"/>upon <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice>, this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> stepped into <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said River &amp; with a Hook Stick dre<supplied reason="damage" cert="medium">w</supplied> <lb xml:id="l40"/><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said lesser Bag out of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said River, <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> being im̄ediately opened, was <lb xml:id="l41"/>found to contain Two brass <choice><abbr>Instrum.<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Instruments</expan></choice> now produced (each of them <lb xml:id="l42"/>haveing Six Iron Screws) and one other <choice><abbr>Instrum.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Instrument</expan></choice> of Iron now also <lb xml:id="l43"/>produced, And this <choice><abbr>Exaīant</abbr><expan>Examinant</expan></choice> further Saith that he knows not when <lb xml:id="l44"/>how nor by whome <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> said <choice><abbr>Instrum.<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Instruments</expan></choice> nor any of them were conveyed <lb xml:id="l45"/>to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> places afore<choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> where they were so found, nor hath he ever Seen <lb xml:id="l46"/>any Such Things before. <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="10"/><hi rend="large"><persName>John Fallows</persName></hi>
