Warwick James Blades and Joseph Tomson, & saith that yethe SdSaid Smithson
& Blades came to this Ex.tsExaminants house ab.tabout Christmas or Candlemas was 12. months
on a Sunday and Smithson went for Mr Warwick who lived at Plessey
ab.tabout a mile from this DeponEx.tsDeponents Examinants house, and yethe SdSaid Mr Warwick came along
with yethe SdSaid Smithson unto this Ex.tsExaminants house and ynthen they all went into a room
room and there they discoursed but what it was this Ex.tExaminant knows not
and that Evening they went all away togeather and ab.tabout a whole week or some
short time after the said Blades and Turner came again to this Exa.tsExaminants house
and Mr Warwick either came along with them or was there very soon after
and staid there ab.tabout 8. or. 10. days and dureing that time Mr Warwick
was with them Severall times. They also went often abroad, and
this Exa.tExaminant has enquired where they went, and sometimes they sayd they had
been at Plessey where Mr Warwick lived, and sometimes SdSaid they had
been at NewCastle but they came always to their Beds at night, and
sometimes they stayd togeather in their Chamb.er for a day, but this Depon.tDeponent knows not what they were doing, and further saith that they said they had Goods to sell and dispose off, but this Ex.tExaminant never see them have any, and is sure they brought none to this Ex.tsExaminants house, And he further saith that at the last time of their comeing to this DepontsDeponents house the SdSaid Blades Turner and Warwick was togeather, and then it was asked this Depon.tDeponent if the SdSaid Blades and Turner might have a lodging at his house for some short time, and the SdSaid Mr Warwick that they would pay for what they had, and he knew nothing but that they were very honest men, however after they had stayd ab.tabout 8. or 10. days they went away and Pdpaid this Ex.tExaminant nothing for their Diet or lodging which this Ex.tExaminant hath severall times demanded of the SdSaid Warwick but he refused to pay the same, he saith he never saw any Instrumts.Instruments for Coyning with ynthen SdSaid ꝑsonspersons but they had a fire in their Chamb.er & might have such things, notwithstanding this DepontsDeponents not seeing them for he minded his Labour, and did not strictly observe the SdSaid ꝑsonspersons.
And further saith that he remembers that Mr Warwick did bring to this Ex.tsExaminants host house in NewCastle a little Wallett with severall ends of some Mattery in it wchwhich was very heavy & desir'd this DepontDeponent to carry it under him on his horse along with yethe SdSaid Warwick & this DepontDeponent did so. and yethe SdSaid Warwick did ride along with him and would not let this Ex.tExaminant go from him till they came to Shotten town end, and then he took away the Wallett and carried it home to Plessey, and afterwards he brought the SdSaid Wallet along with him to this Ex.tsExaminants house, (as he beleives) with the SdSaid Ends in it that was in it, when this DepontDeponent brotbrought it from NewCastle, for he did feel it on the out side, and yethe peices ratled one ag.stagaint another, & he beleives the peices ytthat were in it were peices of Iron (and were Instrumts.Instruments for Coyning ) and yethe SdSaid Warwick bid this DepontDeponent be very carefull and keep them, and not deliver them to any Psonperson whatsoever but to himselfe, and a little time after this the SdSaid Warwick came to this Ex.tsExaminants house, and went into the Room wthwith Blades and Turner, and then called for the Wallet, and this DepontDeponent delivered the same and the peices therein to him, but did not see him open it, and then this DepontDeponent did suspect the SdSaid ꝑsonspersons were upon some ill Designes, and as he thought coyning or clipping, & the more because when they went out they lockt the chamber door constantly. and were sometimes blowing in this DepontsDeponents Smiths fire, and knocking on the Anvill in yethe Shop and the DepontDeponent did look in at the key hole in their chamber but could not discover their Business, and yethe SdSaid Mr Warwick was very Angry with this DepontDeponent and told him that he had discouraged the SdSaid two ꝑsonspersons, by enquiring into their business, and wtwhat they did there, and this happend about yethe Thursday before they went away, And he further saith that some few days after, they came to this Ex.tsExaminants house, he this DepontDeponent asked Mr Warwick what business he had with yethe SdSaid Blades & Turner to wchwhich Mr Warwick answered they were his countrymen and he had Severall Bargaines to make with them Edw.d his E g mark Gare
