                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">Who saith that he never was guilty of counterfeiting the <choice><abbr>Curr<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Currant</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l2"/>Coyn of this Realm, and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> he never Knew <persName>Henry Horsfaile</persName> of <placeName>Lancaster</placeName> <lb xml:id="l3"/>who as he is informed hath accused him for the same, And farther <lb xml:id="l4"/>saith that <persName>George Town</persName> came to his Smithy on <date>Satturday the 28<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. of this <lb xml:id="l5"/>instant August</date>, and asked him if he had any Ale to sell, to which he <lb xml:id="l6"/>reply'd he had not, whereupon the said <persName>Town</persName> said he would See if <lb xml:id="l7"/>he could get any small beere, or something to drink, And he farther <lb xml:id="l8"/>saith that before this time he never knew the <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Said</expan></choice> <persName>Town</persName>, or the person <lb xml:id="l9"/>taken at <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Same time with him <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="10"/> <hi rend="large"><persName>Michael Lawson</persName></hi>

                <p xml:id="par3"><persName>John Airey <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">als</hi></abbr><expan>alias</expan></choice> verey</persName> being at the same time <choice><abbr>Ex<hi rend="overline">ai</hi>ed</abbr><expan>Examined</expan></choice> saith, that <lb xml:id="l10"/>comeing from <placeName>Garstang</placeName> to <persName>Clapam</persName> <date>28.<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> <choice><abbr>Ins.<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Instant</expan></choice></date> was overtaken by one <persName>George <lb xml:id="l11"/>Town</persName>, and in his way thither he call'd at a <choice><abbr>Widd.<hi rend="superscript">o</hi></abbr><expan>Widdow</expan></choice> womans next door to <persName><hi rend="overline">Michal <lb xml:id="l12"/>Lawson</hi></persName>s Smithy and went into her house to get some drink, where he <lb xml:id="l13"/>stay'd not above a quart<hi rend="superscript">er</hi> of an houre, and he farther saith that he never <lb xml:id="l14"/>saw <persName>George Town</persName> or <persName>Michael Lawson</persName> before that day, and further saith that he <lb xml:id="l15"/>was never Guilty of counterfeitjng <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> coyn of this Kingdome, And that he never <lb xml:id="l16"/>knew <persName>Henry Horsfaile</persName> of <placeName>Lancaster</placeName>, who as he is informed hath accused him <lb xml:id="l17"/>of the same <space dim="horizontal" unit="chars" extent="40"/> <hi rend="large"><persName>John <hi rend="subscript">his</hi> I  <hi rend="superscript">mark</hi> Airey</persName></hi> <add place="marginLeft" indicator="no"><hi rend="small"><foreign xml:lang="lat">Examiunt et Capt Anno &amp; die suꝑdict coram</foreign></hi> <hi rend="large"><persName>A: Pudsay</persName></hi></add>
