                <p xml:id="par3">I humbly beg leave to lay before <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> that the Master &amp; 
                    <lb xml:id="l2"/>Worker of her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Mint is not obliged to receive all the gold &amp; 
                    <lb xml:id="l3"/>silver brought into her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi></abbr><expan>Majestys</expan></choice> Mint to be coyned. If any gold be brought 
                    <lb xml:id="l4"/><del type="strikethrough">into her Maj<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi> Mint</del> <add place="lineBeginning" indicator="no">in</add> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is not tough, he returns it back to be toughned 
                    <lb xml:id="l5"/>at the Importers charge tho it be standard. If any gold or silver 
                    <lb xml:id="l6"/>be not eavenly mixed he returns it back to be remelted at the 
                    <lb xml:id="l7"/>Importers charge. If it be not neare to standard he returns it 
                    <lb xml:id="l8"/>back to be refined at the Impor<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>ers charge. And to judge whether 
                    <lb xml:id="l9"/>it be fit to be received or returned back is left to his discretion. 
                    <lb xml:id="l10"/>And by parity of reason he should not be obliged to receive all 
                    <lb xml:id="l11"/>sorts of copper to be coyned. If it be not fine or not tough &amp; 
                    <lb xml:id="l12"/>malleable or ill coloured or otherwise <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">f</add>aulty, he should be at 
                    <lb xml:id="l13"/>liberty to return it back <del type="strikethrough">to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> owner</del> to be made fit for the 
                    <lb xml:id="l14"/><del type="strikethrough">owner</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no">Mint</add> at the Importers charge. Otherwise it will be difficult <lb xml:id="l15"/>to c<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add>yn the money of good malleable copper<del type="over">.</del><add place="over" indicator="no">,</add> <add place="inline interlinear" indicator="no">witho<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">u</add>t allowing for the 
                        <lb xml:id="l16"/>charge loss &amp; hazzards <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="strikethrough"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="7"/></del></add> of such an<del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">y</unclear></del> undertaking.</add></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">There is an assay of copper by refining a small parcel &amp; thence 
                    <lb xml:id="l17"/>recconing what will be the wast <del type="cancelled">&amp;</del> charges <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">&amp; trouble</add> in ref<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>ning a Tunn of such 
                    <lb xml:id="l18"/>copper<add place="inline" indicator="no">.</add><del type="strikethrough">, &amp; setting a value upon it accordingly.</del> And such an Assay is 
                    <lb xml:id="l19"/>usefull in buying coarse copper to be refined, but is of <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">little or</add> no use in 
                    <lb xml:id="l20"/>buying fine copper. The price of fine copper depends upon the malle<lb xml:id="l21"/>ability &amp; tw<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add> parcels of copper <del type="strikethrough"><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> by such an assay are</del> equally 
                    <lb xml:id="l22"/>fine may differ very much in their <del type="cancelled">price</del> malleability, &amp; by 
                    <lb xml:id="l23"/>consequence in their price. Copper refined to that degree &amp; in that 
                    <lb xml:id="l24"/>manner as to be malleable <del type="strikethrough">when red hot</del> without cracking when 
                    <lb xml:id="l25"/>red hot is the fittest material for manufact<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">u</add>ring into all sorts of 
                    <lb xml:id="l26"/>copper vessels &amp; by consequence for money. The Swedish copper <del type="cancelled"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/> <lb xml:id="l27"/>of</del> money is of this standard. <del type="strikethrough"><del type="over">A</del><add place="over" indicator="no">B</add>ut if it be made much more malle<lb xml:id="l28"/>able the wire drawer<del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">s</unclear></del> will give two or</del> And such copper is usually 
                    <lb xml:id="l29"/>valued at about 11<formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mfrac><mn>1</mn><mn>2</mn></mfrac></math></formula><tei:hi xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" rend="superscript">d</tei:hi> per <tei:choice xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0"><tei:abbr>lw<tei:hi rend="superscript">t</tei:hi></tei:abbr><tei:expan>pound weight</tei:expan></tei:choice>. And if it be made still more soft &amp; 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l30"/>malleable the wiredrawer may value it at 2 or 3<tei:hi xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" rend="superscript">s</tei:hi> per <tei:choice xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0"><tei:abbr>lw<tei:hi rend="superscript">t</tei:hi></tei:abbr><tei:expan>pound weight</tei:expan></tei:choice> because 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l31"/>of its fitness for his use. Tis the ductility that makes it usefull 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l32"/>&amp; the usefu<tei:del xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" type="over"><tei:gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></tei:del><tei:add xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" place="over" indicator="no">ln</tei:add>ess that sets a price upon it &amp; the triall by <tei:del xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" type="strikethrough">the <tei:lb xml:id="l33"/>hammer hot &amp; cold</tei:del> hammering &amp; bending hot &amp; cold that determins 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l34"/>the ductility. This is the <tei:del xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" type="strikethrough">triall</tei:del><tei:add xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" place="supralinear" indicator="no">assay</tei:add> by <tei:choice xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0"><tei:abbr>w<tei:hi rend="superscript">ch</tei:hi></tei:abbr><tei:expan>which</tei:expan></tei:choice> the Refiners of copper 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l35"/>know when their copper is fully fine &amp; ready to vitrify &amp; by 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l36"/>consequence the proper assay for receiving fine copper into the 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l37"/>Mint<tei:add xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><tei:del type="strikethrough">to be melted into barrs</tei:del></tei:add>. For it determins the fineness &amp; the malleability at once, 
                    <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l38"/>no coarse copper being malleable.</p>
                
                <tei:p xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="par5">By the estimates of W<tei:del type="over"><tei:gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></tei:del><tei:add place="over" indicator="no">o</tei:add>rkmen the charges of repairing &amp; fitting <tei:lb xml:id="l39"/>up the houses in the Irish Mint for a <tei:del type="strikethrough">copper</tei:del> coynage of Copper 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l40"/>will amount to about 14<tei:del type="over"><tei:unclear reason="del" cert="low">5</tei:unclear></tei:del><tei:add place="over" indicator="no">6</tei:add><tei:hi rend="superscript"><tei:hi rend="overline">li</tei:hi></tei:hi> <tei:del type="cancelled"><tei:gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></tei:del>. And the putting up a furnace in 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l41"/>the melting house with all things <tei:del type="strikethrough">requisite <tei:gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="3"/></tei:del><tei:add place="supralinear" indicator="no">answerable</tei:add> for <tei:add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">making</tei:add> an experiment 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l42"/>in casting will cost about 32<tei:hi rend="superscript"><tei:hi rend="overline">li</tei:hi></tei:hi> more. And a small parcel of copper

                    for making an experiment may cost about 20<tei:hi rend="superscript">li</tei:hi> more. If <tei:choice><tei:abbr>yo<tei:hi rend="superscript">r</tei:hi></tei:abbr><tei:expan>your</tei:expan></tei:choice> <tei:choice><tei:abbr>Lord<tei:hi rend="superscript">p</tei:hi></tei:abbr><tei:expan>Lordship</tei:expan></tei:choice> please to impress 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l43"/>200<tei:hi rend="superscript"><tei:hi rend="overline">li</tei:hi></tei:hi> to me for this service upon account, it may be repaid out of the copper 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l44"/>coynage. All <tei:choice><tei:abbr>w<tei:hi rend="superscript">ch</tei:hi></tei:abbr><tei:expan>which</tei:expan></tei:choice> &amp;c</tei:p>
