                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">May it please <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">In obedience to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Reference of 23 Novemb<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> last we have 
                    <lb xml:id="l1"/>enquired into the Case of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Antony Redhead late Master &amp; Worker of 
                    <lb xml:id="l2"/>the Mint at Norwich and find it truly stated in the annexed paper on 
                    <lb xml:id="l3"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> the said Reference is endorsed. And particularly by the Day-books <lb xml:id="l4"/>of that Mint &amp; the Cashbooks of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead &amp; his Clerk &amp; another <lb xml:id="l5"/>book composed &amp; signed by the Warden of that Mint we find that <lb xml:id="l6"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead upon the breaking up of that Mint was indebted 2497<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> <lb xml:id="l7"/> 16<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> 3<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Leonard Blofeld for hammered money at 5<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> <choice><abbr>oz</abbr><expan>ounce</expan></choice>.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">And whereas in discharge of this debt he produces three Receipts <lb xml:id="l8"/>for 2500<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> paid to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Blofelds Order out of that Mint the one dated <lb xml:id="l9"/>Aug. 26 1697 for 500<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> the other two dated Aug 30 &amp; Sept. 1 1697 for <lb xml:id="l10"/>1000<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> each: we find that M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Blofeld did within three weeks after, <lb xml:id="l11"/>viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> 22 Sept 1697 account <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead for what monies he had <lb xml:id="l12"/>then received out of that Mint &amp; endorsed the whole amounting to <lb xml:id="l13"/>14922<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> on two printed Mint Tickets but neglected to take up &amp; <lb xml:id="l14"/>cancell his Receipts of some of them, &amp; we humbly conceive that the <lb xml:id="l15"/>said three Receipts were then accounted for &amp; are discharged by the <lb xml:id="l16"/>said endorsement &amp; ought not to be insisted on any further and <lb xml:id="l17"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead does not any longer insist peremptorily upon them but submits <lb xml:id="l18"/>them to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Wisdom. They are in the form of private Receipts <lb xml:id="l19"/>&amp; so cannot be allowed by an Auditor as Vouchers</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par5">We further lay before <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> that M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead at <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> conclusion of 
                    <lb xml:id="l20"/>that Mint was indebted to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Chaplin a Receiver of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Land Tax for <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">2</add>573<hi rend="superscript">oz</hi>. 5<hi rend="superscript">dwt</hi>. 
                    <lb xml:id="l21"/>of hammered money at 5<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> <choice><abbr>oz</abbr><expan>ounce</expan></choice> the summ of 643<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. 6<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. 3<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>, &amp; that in 
                    <lb xml:id="l22"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Chaplins Account <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> is past &amp; declared &amp; a Quietus obtained M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead 
                    <lb xml:id="l23"/>is set insuper &amp; that only at 5<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> <choice><abbr>oz</abbr><expan>ounce</expan></choice>.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par6">M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead was also indebted to four other <del type="cancelled">Importers</del> Receivers <lb xml:id="l24"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Briggs, M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Rendal, M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Clark &amp; Thorowgood in the respective summs <lb xml:id="l25"/>of 882<hi rend="superscript">li</hi>. 7<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>, 1277<hi rend="superscript">li</hi>. 16<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. 3<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>, 431<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. 2<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> &amp; 40<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. 6<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. 3<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>. for all <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> his <lb xml:id="l26"/><del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">promised</unclear></del> Receipts stand out against him. And these &amp; all the other debts <lb xml:id="l27"/>above mentioned for silver imported amount to 5772<hi rend="superscript">li</hi>. 15<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. 00<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>, part of <lb xml:id="l28"/><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> debt has arisen from the application of the Importers money to other <lb xml:id="l29"/>services of the Mint for <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> he has allowance in his Accompt now ready <lb xml:id="l30"/>to be laid before <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">p</hi></abbr><expan>Lordship</expan></choice> &amp; for the Remainder M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Neale is to be set <lb xml:id="l31"/>insuper &amp; his <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="7"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">Administ</add>rix or security to be charged therewith, M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Redhead <lb xml:id="l32"/>seeming poor &amp; unable to make satisfaction, &amp; <del type="strikethrough">fit</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">not unfit</add> to be set at liberty <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">upon baile</add> so soo <lb xml:id="l33"/>as it may be done by the consent of all parties <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">c</add>oncerned.</p>
