<p xml:id="par2">I rec<choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">d</hi></abbr><expan>eived</expan></choice> both your letters, the former on thursday, which day I went <lb xml:id="l1"/>to dine with M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Newton Smith at Barrowby near here, where we drank <lb xml:id="l2"/>your health &amp; familys, &amp; that in the same room where <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaacs picture <lb xml:id="l3"/>hangs, which is the best done by <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Godf.</abbr><expan>Godfrey</expan></choice> Kneller. twas a great plea<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l4"/>sure to me to see it, &amp; other furniture of <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaacs. I could not an<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l5"/>swer that <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">l</hi></abbr><expan>lett</expan></choice>er before to day. in it you observe a mistake, about the <lb xml:id="l6"/>place where <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Is.</abbr><expan>Isaac</expan></choice> dyd. you may consider that I only transcribed M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> <lb xml:id="l7"/>Le Neve's words, which I my self thought was a mistake. &amp; I appre<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l8"/>hend you may have incurrd an error where you write to me that he <lb xml:id="l9"/>dyd on munday the 20<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. of March. I suppose it was the 13<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. of March.</p>
<p xml:id="par3">as for my vote &amp; interest for <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Michael, if I had either, they <lb xml:id="l10"/>should be very much at his service. I am not free of the corporation <lb xml:id="l11"/>&amp; have not liv'd long enough to have any interest considerabl. the <lb xml:id="l12"/>people here seem to be mighty fond of <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Michael &amp; we look upon <lb xml:id="l13"/>him as safe. you may be assured, nothing I can doe shall be wanting <lb xml:id="l14"/>toward it.</p>
<p xml:id="par4">twas in this letter you wrote to me about him, which I take <lb xml:id="l15"/>notice of because in your last, you seem suprizd I had not <lb xml:id="l16"/>answerd it sooner.</p>
<p xml:id="par5">I shall receive as a great favor the print of <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac <lb xml:id="l17"/>&amp; the Principia. I have a print of him which I bought but <lb xml:id="l18"/>not of the first impression. I have likewise several drawings <lb xml:id="l19"/>of him, copyd by my self from <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Godfreys paintings, &amp; I <lb xml:id="l20"/>have taken several sketches of his side face, which are very <lb xml:id="l21"/>like him. I being present with him &amp; <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Godfrey at painting <lb xml:id="l22"/>his great picture to be sent to ffrance, desired <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac to let <lb xml:id="l23"/><choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Godfrey paint his side face or profile as we call it, for me, <lb xml:id="l24"/>what says <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>:</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> Isaac, would you make a medal of me? &amp; refus'd <lb xml:id="l25"/>it, tho' I was then in highest favor with him.</p>
<p xml:id="par6">I shall neglect no opportunity to Collect any further notices of <lb xml:id="l26"/>him that I possibily can, being</p>
